I think you guys mix up political and outspoken. Political means signing to a certain wing. Being outspoken means, at least in my mind, is expressing yourself. In punk rock, and that's what I like about it when growing up in post 1960's, the honesty and directness was bonded me to that frame of mind. Because as much as it might have seemed to you, Big Gajin, it was not about politics, but attitude. The punk attitude. That did include speaking against political issues, but that's just a part of what any thinking beeing can't avoid considering. The roots of punk rock was not political, it was social. People on dole, unemployed, like in SHam 69, Lurkers, Cockney Rejects, etc. even they, they were 0i bands and others just frustrated kids. Wire, Psychedelic Furs, Slaughter and the Dogs, move on the the Damned, and well..... the North American Iggy Pop. Political? Hmm. Anybody is in a way! That would deny his\her right to state. But generalizing? Nope. Like I said, I painted dolphin murals. Good money by the way! But that had nothing to do with anything political.
