The problem in Ontario was a previous government (not the liberals) gave away (sold) government corporations (that made money) to the private sector. One was the transmission lines for electricity (Ontario One?). With the autopack dead and steel industry in decline employment in Ontario was falling. Revenue was falling.
- So what happened, any type of revenue was looked at. Increased taxes for cottages... The million dollar hockey players country cottages were now taxed at a higher rate, so did every one elses house in unincorporated townships. Fees for drivers licenses, etc.
-Government contracts are out of whack. the guy that does the snowplowing for a contract, get paid decent money, but he does not own the company. the company charges for manhours, equipment usuage, and management to oversee contract and then the profit for the owners.
-My experience with the different types of government are this:
NDP- usually fuck up the free market system and drive the economy into recessions. haven't a clue on how to make money. Equalize everything....
Liberal- spend too much on liberal arts and huggy nice to do things, but put the province into more debt. Social, but some capital leanings.
PC- good for economy , but lack the social aspects of what is standard in Candian society. Usually sell off crown corporations to their friends. Cut back government services that are needed. The rich will get richer....
What is really funny is that Harper's minority government did more for Canadians than majority governments can do, because it was a balanced show for all Canadians. Why did that happen, because Harper knew that if he went his idealogical way, his minority government would loose a vote, non confidence, and would be forced to call an election which he would loose (due to too many elections too close together -3), so he choose to compromise.
Harper was voted out because he was cutting social programs and other budgets and was asking the Indigenous (sp) People to account for the money given them. So out goes the conservatives and in come the Liberals. Most people thought it was going to be a minority gov.
In Ontario, the liberalswere going out... people were tired of paying through the nose for everything. Change was gonning to happen. Ford has no choice now, but to cut services, if he cuts taxes, he only cut his own throat, because of the lack of revenue. Ontario still has years of recovering to do.
as the demograhics of population get older, they will rely more on social services, more NDP. But NDP cant run an economy, because its not in their mindset.
Now for BC with a NDP government. watch out, our economy will falter...... because the dickhead choose to make a stand on the pipeline..... fucken retarded.
