You're giving your full name every time somebody is scanning your vaccine card to get into a restaurant. Or everytime you show your ID to buy alcohol.
I’m glad I have a forum to respond here. I haven’t read every comment or every argument so I have no doubt that what i am about to state has already been stated by smarter folks than me. However, in regards to giving your info to someone scanning a vaccine confirmation, I am not worried about future blackmail when I do that. (And remember, it only takes ONE bad person to victimize many… and if the reader of this IS or
will be ‘one of those future victims’, it would not be fun, would it!?)
I WOULD worry that someone somewhere in the future, short on money, desperate for financial aid, etc etc, might (and I stress “might”) decide to take advantage of another‘s momentary weakness to self-indulge. (It might be an associate of the recipient of the deposit, and ex-boyfriend, etc who might attack, also true?)
It’s a “PAPER TRAIL”. It will
never go away. EVER. No different than someone’s irresponsible (and momentary loss of good judgement) decision to share a self-nude photo… ‘because I trust the recipient and s/he would
neverrrrr do anything to hurt me’. (Famous last words!!)
Furthermore, it IS a paper trail of what some agencies MIGHT consider to be an illegal act. Duh…?? (This comment is not being directed to the author of this post. I am simply putting these thoughts out there.)
What are people doing???
As for security?? Well think about this; Texting is also a paper trail. Forever. Never goes away. And if anyone reading this has ANY aspirations of doing ANYTHING EVER that might require in-depth scrutiny on past behaviour (politics, legal, bonding, etc)… think about that “paper trail”. Every time the phone would ring, every time the ”registered mail” shows up… a job, a career could hang in the balance.
So, TO respond regarding the need to show info to get into a restaurant or buy alcohol, so what; what genuine evil can come from that?
But Deposits with your identification… those can only ruin one’s life. Is it worth it? (And if it happens only to
one reader, and
you’re the reader, does it really matter that it didn’t happen to anyone else?)
Stay well and stay safe everyone.
