Still lost in the '60s
Back in the 1980s, when a guy needed to let off sexual steam, he could head downtown and on Granville Street, there were seedy pinball parlours that had peep shows in the back. You could go into a smelly little cubicle, drop a quarter into the slot, and watch a skin flick while you flogged the bishop. There was a box of tissues handy, and the floor was - to put it politely - unkempt.

My question is, does any such establishment still exist anywhere? Or does one now simply go into the Starbucks men's room and watch netvideogirls on your smartphone while you cuff the carrot?

Just askin' for a friend.

Ah, the days before Pornhub. My memory of the Granville Street ones, when I visited in the early 90s, was that there were a lot of "I'm not gay but..." types who'd offer "company" with your viewing... the free BJ / HJ added to the sordidness of the experience... and, why not? They were still kinda sketchy & dingy places, whereas Montreal had a whole different scene: very clean and sometimes girls (pre-Craigslist even quite attractive girls were streetwalkers) would knock on the door of your cubicle and offer a "date" for very reasonable rates.

People just don't connect the way they used to before smartphones LOL.

I noticed a peep show area in the adult store near New West station, so I imagine other adult stores might have something similar?

I've spent far too much time in adult bookstores. Some of them (NY, SF, Seattle) had booths that would show one movie, but "suggest" 4 new ones in a picture-in-picture corner of the screen. You'd press the button for something that caught your interest, and 4 new suggestions would appear.
I've even seen the "Live Nude Girl" booths, with one girl stripping for a row of ten booths, and better looking girls hosting a one-on-one booth.

The infamous Fox Theater on Main St is a cabaret now. The Georgia Straight ran an article about cleaning off all the cum of of everything when they renovated.

They're mostly on the decline. The gay website squirt dot org has a listing and reviews of what remains. (You don't need to be gay to whack off in a booth).

Cheers.

The corner of royal and stewardson in new west might still have .
That would be the old Fantasy Factory.
They used to produce porn videos.
I had forgotten all about that place. I used to have 3/4" to CD video duplication done there.

The last time Mr. Google drove his camera car past there, last October, they had 25-cent peep shows and were open 24/7.
It's good to know old fashioned depravity still lives in the Royal City.

Movieland Arcade on Granville, mentioned above, is still open but who knows for how much longer. Half the arcade games are out of order. But they do have the 8mm reels playing, and I don't know who else in the world does. I just now looked them up online, and in a BC Tourism page someone asks how the lap dances are. One person responded saying not very good, the owner is in his 80s and has a bad hip and there are no other staff.

I remember back in the day visiting the infamous Venus theatre on Main St just north of Union St. There were always 6-12 patrons in there for the “films (a very bad VHS projection unit, with even worse quality movies).” But no one was there for the films. They were waiting for couples to show up who had a thing for public sex in front of (and sometimes including) strangers in a dark, seedy place. Now it’s a condo like every other place in the city.
