Olympic "Canadian" pride

I just saw on CTV National News that hockey fans are paying anywherre from $5000 to $138,000 for a pair of tickets for this game. $138,000 will get you a so-called "suite" that will seat up to 20 of your friends.

WTF?

Jesus Christ, hockey fans are so fucked up.

One fan who was interviewed on the news said that his tickets are worth something like $12,000 to $15,000 or so but he's not selling them--he's going to the game instead.

Sheesh. Get a life, people. It's only a goddamn hockey game, for fuck's sake!

i have to agree with you that some hockey fans are so messed up, without a doubt that is true. one thing you should know is that watching the olympics in person for alot of people is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you cant put a value to that. some people are probably putting down a 2nd mortgage just to watch this event. seriously though, how often are the olympics in your home country, in a city you live in, with the home team playing for gold, and having a ticket? it is quite unlikely, which is why i would love to be able to go, but sadly, i can think of alot of other things i can do with $5000. perhaps i am just not a hockey nut like some people, but id like to treat this game like the stanley cup games. canada vs usa, happens quite often, which is why i treat it as such

i also dont have any plans to watch the game at all since i have other plans for the night

Supply and demand, my friends.

Although from what I've heard from friends in Vancouver, most of the hockey tix went first to VIPs, family and friends of players, corporate sponsors, celebrities and other immortal beings.

It's an afternoon game, starting at 1 PM.

I respect your views :)

They could be playing hockey right in my living room with the floor flooded with water and frozen and I couldn't care any less than I do now.

near southgate area there was a water line that burst early in the morning. sucks to hear, and with it being frozen, if it shifts or cracks the foundation, the house may have to be demolished depending on the extent

You know I can't help but feel pride in Canada.
Emotionally. Logically I shouldn't, but I do.
Canada is the only place I will ever love to live in the world.

haha athletes are not 'heros'.
With the inner strength she was able to draw upon in order to overcome the tremendous pain and sorrow in her heart, Joannie Rochette will be forever thought of by many as an Olympic and Canadian hero.

Do you feel pride in being a true Canadian?
Based on what I saw, there are millions of Canadians who are truly proud of our Olympic atheletes for their dedication and determination.

"I Am Canadian" and thankful for living in the best damn country in the world!

So don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, Markl!

You know what is so great about this country. I will tell you. Even the hunnys, silkys and markis can say what they want as long as it is not inflamatory to another party, and even if we are in total disagreement with them, it is their right to do so.

I just wonder about some of these posters. Personally, I think they have to get laid.

And that's probably the problem, they can't get laid for love or money. Though I must say, there is the occasional flash of truth in what at least some of them say, it's just the way they say it.

Do you feel proud that our athletes are doing well?
Well, they aren't "OUR" athletes because we don't own them, right? LOL

I thought the Canadian athletes did a wonderful job and I am proud of them for accomplishing what they did.

On the same note, I felt that many other countries did well also.

umm.. is it really proper to post on this board about how people spend their extra cash? just saying. If i had an extra $5000, I would buy the ticket for a once in a life time experience. Am sure many on this board would have no problems how to spend an extra 5000. lol Same as people will spend a million just to have 5 minutes in space.

Watching a hockey game is not a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not in the least.

I'd spend that five grand on a nice made-to-measure Zegna suit and some sweet brown wingtips.
Whine whine whine, talking about shoes is boring, I don't like shoes, whine, whine, whine. I'm just an attention whore who has to keep telling people what I don't like. I don't have a life so I feel the need to complain about what I don't like so people will pay attention to me. My life is so empty and I'm such a loser I have nothing else to do but look for attention from strangers.

The only obsessive behavior I see is your constant NEED to post in a thread about a topic you claim to have no interest in. Between this and you having to correct every one's spelling on a constant basis your entire life seems to be wrapped up in this place and trying to prove to everyone how smart you are.

Did you not get enough attention from mommy and daddy and now try and seek that attention here?

Did mommy and daddy give you too much attention and give you an over inflated ego?

Do your co-workers ignore you all day long and you seek the attention of others here?

Did you lose that big promotion from stock boy to sales clerk in the Sears menswear dept so you come here to tells us all about you superior fashion sense?

You really need to seek the help of a mental heath professional to help you get past this pathetic cry for attention. Really Spermie, anyone over the (mental) age of 14 would look at the title of a tread and say I have no interest in that and move on but you seem incapable of doing that. If the best you can do is post pictures of donairs and talk about shoes stick to that, if you can't and feel you have to shit on other peoples threads you should expect people will give it right back.

Get out of your dark little basement apartment and go out an meet some actual people before the Internet drives you crazy. You really do have the most pathetic need to be the center of attention I've ever seen.

From the trend of his postings lately I have to agree with you on this. As to his getting out, maybe he can't. Maybe mommy went on vacation and locked him in the basement so wouldn't get out and hurt himself, or get hurt trying to be the center of attention.
