Okay.. I want a travel buddy...

In the recent days I have lost my travel buddy to unforeseen circumstances so now I am putting it out there for anyone to come along.

I want to go down the California coast ... Stopping in Seattle, San Francisco, and ending in L.A.

Its a vacation/tour.

Man or woman I don't care, as long as your fun and enjoy a lot of driving and seeing the sights. Being respectful about private time, and me getting my grove on with the Americans.

If you are a man, I am not offering free sex, however if you would like to get some pussy action book me... I'm right there anyway !! ~ flutters eyes ~ If you would like to see another lady, let me know, you can have the room. However I'm not sharing my bed with you.

If you are a woman, and either want to get away or work in the States give me a call. We can work out working details as we go.

All expenses are shared, food, gas, lodging, sight seeing... etc. I am bring my SUV so we have lots of room to relax, and I'll get the air conditioning fixed. ~ smiles softly ~

Things I want to do...

Seattle, I open to suggestions here. Two days is tons of time to get a nice feel for the city.

San Fran, I have to see the prison and the big hills. But again open to suggestions. Another two days here.

L.A. I'd like to see the Hollywood Squares, Disneyland, Rodeo Drive, star homes, a tour of a studio or two. Maybe even, ' The Price is Right ' I have put in a request for ' Ellen ' tickets but have not heard back... so maybe something else. Four days in L.A.

Then we drive straight home.

Lodging I'm up for suggestions, but I don't stay in icky hotels, but I also don't want to stay in the Ritz. Room service is mandatory when I'm working... breakfast in bed is the only way I travel... although a lot of standard hotels offer this. I'm addicted to playing pool, so pubs are more fun the dance clubs. We don't have to spend every waking hour with each other.

Also either in Napa Valley or down in Orange county we can do a tour of a winery.

I snore or so I'm told, I have bad eating habits, and I love to swear.... I am pretty black and white so humor can sometimes escape me... I don't like to talk about heavy stuff, it hurts my brain.

Basically just want to have fun... So if you are interested in an adventure outside of the norm and want to get away from Canada or want to tour down the Western coast ... email me and we'll start talking.

Sounds like you have been reading the travel posts by others. Good luck with this one.

I too am always on the look out for a female travelling companion. But has to go where I go, otherwise I am easy and cuddly and like good meals, wine, evening of relaxation. A few rules too, but easily accomodatable. I will get south later in the year.

My next trip two weeks away?

Saskatoon! Land of Wheat and Honey.

I've been wanting to do this for as long as I've been in the biz... all my inquiries so far have been done privately.

But, since you imply that it's at least in part a working trip:

Have you considered the consequences, for both you and your traveling companion, if LE notices you engaging in an illegal activity in the US?

Perhaps you're more daring than I, but I'm always on my very best behaviour in a foreign country. And these days, the US is about as foreign as they get.

BTW: I have been researching this trip for about a year, and I am pretty confident that it can be fun and successful... So far only one serious inquiry.

I've driven this circuit twice; once in the seventies, and the last time in 2002. While I am not available, I can offer a few suggestions. I did the first in a van, and the second in a car; I recommend the car. Avoid I-5 after Portland; head out instead to coastal Highway 101, which eventually leads to California Highway 1. The coastal road is much more scenic and leisurely. The best time of year is in April-May if you like flowers. The road at that time is not busy, nor full of RVs and campers. Also, it is not as warm as summertime. Instead of returning on the same route, drive instead east from Los Angeles and take in Las Vegas, returning north again towards San Francisco, or further north through Reno, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe. Oregon has the Columbia and Snake River watersheds that are interesting. If you have some time when you return to Washington, the Cascade Loop is another scenic route not to be missed.

Seattle - Eat at Ivar's restaurant on the downtown waterfront - great clam chowder
Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument
The sand dunes on the Oregon coast
The giant redwood forest in Northern California
Monterrey, CA - 17-Mile Drive (gated private road) through Pebble Beach is worth it at $8.50 ending up at Carmel by the Sea
The wine valleys of either Napa or Sonoma (some Napa wineries charge for their tasting tours, Sonoma's are generally free, and low-key)

There are many more, but those are the ones that stand out for me.

Maury's comments covered most of the highlights, but two stand out in my mind that were overlooked. Depending on the time of the year, there is the Garlic Festival in Gilroy and the Atichoke Festival in Watsonville. You haven't lived until you have had garlic ice cream. Should be #34 at B & R.

I have driven the 101 in Oregon twice .. amazing drive and you are next to the ocean most of the time. On the way back, take I-5 thru Oregon and in Medford, get off and drive up to Crater Lake National Park. It is still the most beautiful sight in the world to me. And if you drive up to Bend (Oregon), you can cut back to Portland. 30 minutes east of Portland on I-84, there are some great waterfalls to view.

and re: wineries, Oregon ones make a fine pinot noir.
