ok, this is embarassing, but bare with me, I need some advice...

So I go into my doctors for a regular check-up (womanly check up) The last time I had one with this doctor, his receptionist came in for the show. This time, the two of us were alone. He asked me if I had found any lumps in my breast, when I told him no, he started in with this hand, then both hands. He spent a conspicuous amount of time "searching" for a non-existant lump. ANYWAY, I'll fast forward through the akwardness of the rest of it.

So I'm getting dressed...(aren't doctors supposed to leave while you get dressed?) Either way... he says to me, "so we should go for lunch", ??????? that was out of line... but what the hell, I'm trying to get a perscription for Pot, so I say to him, well you see about getting me that perscription, and I'll see about going to lunch with you. He totally laughed it off and asked for my phone number. I was confused, because I had already given the receptionist my new numbers  But whatever, he's my doctor.

So I give him my number and about a week later (just the other night) he called my cell. At 9PM!!! this freaked me out.. I'm thinking something bad about my test results or something, so I say, " did my results come in??" I'm not sure if he had my file in front of him or not.. but I dont' think that was the reason he called. Totally freaked me out!!! what should I do?

Well, if you welcome his calls and do want to date him, then it is alright. Otherwise, it just sounds wrong to me.

I would call the College of Physicians and ask to talk to their ethics department. Sounds to me that he has crossed his doctor/patient trust.

I suspect he won't ever write you the prescription for pot. He does risk losing his license, although he was brazen enough to push his limits with you. I am sure there are other ways you can get what you want Bobbi. Hey didn't I see you get a beer from the bartender at a bar by flashing him your awesome Ds? ;)

Yes, true, I get free beer

And great idea bout asking VV.

This thing isn't tearing me up inside. I know how to handle guys, but it just threw me off a bit. He did put me in an uncomfortable situation, but I don't want him to lose his license over it. I want to give him 'what-for' without stripping him of his dignity, his license, and a fine of 25K. What if he did this to a younger girl? who didn't know how to handle herself, ya know? That's what bothers me the most I think.

and yes, I know where to get pot without a prescription... it would just be more fun to get it legally.

If you, a strong confident woman, doesn't report this creep, who will?

PS: isn't the pot you can get with a prescription very low quality?

in the moment
report him

I have also been taken advantage of by a few male doctors(one female in Vancouver fondled my breasts) & now that I look back it annoys me thoroughly. Having to strip down for a regular check up & I can't count how many requests for female check ups out of the blue, from doctors filling in for my regular doctor or a new doctor. I clued in pretty quick....

file a complaint - its way too common.

Yes they are, that alone is enough to have the Board all over him. I know because I hopped off the table and starting getting dressed while my doctor was filling out my chart. He looked up, saw what I was doing, turned his head AND sheilded his eyes. He asked me to stop because he can't be in the room while I'm dressing.

But whatever, he's my doctor.
That is secondary to being an opportunistic slimebag. I think he asked for your number because if it's in your writing, he can use it as proof in his favour that you were actually persuing him if it came to it.

I really hope you take steps to report him. If I were you, I would go see him again, with your cel phone on and dialed to an extended message machine. Then take that to the College and see what happens :)

Bobbi, you need to dig out of this one fast. Even if you don't make an official complaint (I think you should for the sake of future others) you should at least straighten him out.

Seeing the other women here report similar experiences is a real eye opener. My word, I had no idea this sort of thing was so common!

Most guys will pursue a girl if she seems to be interested and if he thinks he has a shot. You gave him your # and he may take this as your permission/invite to call. I have heard of situations (workplace related) where guys ask a girl for her # even if they already have it (personel files, etc) as a way of giving her the chance to say No.

He has clearly violated professional ethics, so who knows what else he is up for.
You can call him at his office (reg hours preferred) and say you want to clarify that you did not intend to send any mixed messages about your interest/availability etc and that you only want to have a professional relationship with him (after this you don't need to go back!) and tell him you don't want him to call you for anything. The receptionists always make the official phone calls re scheduling etc regardless. Tell him that you would prefer to have a women present for any future "robe off" exams.
If you decide to see him again (I wouldn't), make the point of reminding him on this.

Man, has this ever been weirdo week or what. Chuckie, Danny, and now Dr Yuck.

ok. i'm in health profession n i can tell u, if things happened as u described then this Dr. is acting in unethically manner. u can report him if u want.

i had girls making pass at me before n i had to play it kewl n not response. i was advise that if i really want to ask a patient out i have to advice her to see diff dr. then maybe i can ask her out. n that's still a stretch.

so decide what u want. maybe reporting him is not a bad idea. at least he'll know that he's doing something wrong. if this is not recurring thing then he'll get reprimand in some way and fined. but if he do this with regularilty then that's not a good thing for the profession either.

definitely go see diff dr.

pot is easier to get in bc with better potency than the legal way anyway. n u don't want that on ur record as pot user.

hope this help.

Whether or not she pursued him or not is actually irrelevent. Any pursuit of relations outside the office is illegal and a violation of the Dr/Pt trust. I think that Hifi gave you the best advise on what to do in regards to going to the College of Physicians. The fact of the matter is that roughly half of the Dr's who engage in this type of behaviour do so with more than one patient; so chances are he will do this again if he hasn't already. Luckily, you were able to handle and shrug off the situation; but that Dr can seriously traumatize his next female patient (or male, who knows). I know that you don't want him to lose his license, but his actions really must be addressed, sooner than later.

yep find another doctor but file a complaint. This doc went way over the line and who knows how many other times he's gotten away doing this in the past with other patients. Doc Slimbutt will continue doing this unless reported.

All very good advice

No, he isn't aware of my profession, but someone mentioned that he might have been a hobbyist and recognized my pictures. I dont' think that's true... it COULD be, but he never made mention of anything of the sort.

I think that I should confront him about it, tell him the consequences if I did go to the board. Maybe that would scare some sense into him. I'm not just going to let him get away with it... but in all honesty, I don't want to be a witness to anything drawn out like this would be. With all their questions for me, I highly doubt my illegal profession would make me look like an upstanding witness.

Hi BobbiVan,
My suggestion would be to do whatever you feel most comfortable in doing. You might be right, by just confronting him you might just scare some sense into him enough. It's true and sad when the system has to take into account other factors such as what you do or what you did in the past and not on the main issue itself. A person in his positon taking advantage of people like that is scum. I at least hope you scare the crap out of him! Good Luck BobbiVan!!
