One certain thing after the season, we're going to have one less Swede, actually 2, since any average pea-sized Nucklehead will see that Sundin isn't worth $10millon pro-rated & not coming back hopefully.

Even better that Ohlund supposingly talked poor Sundin into coming here, what a burn job.

After all his services to the Nucks, and having a full year to attemp to negotiate a contract, it's wonderful what loyalty means in this Nucks franchise.

Oh sure, Ohlund's been steady, but after all these years of futility--- nothing since 1994 --- it's time to move on and clean house again.

And it's not just the Swedes either. Wellwood's done crap, same as Pyatt, and it's debatable who's softer-- Demitra or Salo.

See, i'm not that anti-European ;)

I'd like to see Ohlund stay but I don't think he'll fit in the cap space. We got Luongo to resign after next season, we need to resign the sedins and Kesler's contract is coming up soon.

There are some nice UFA that are defencemen we can target. Scott Niedemayer and Jay Bowmeester to name a few.

I'm afraid I have to agree with bjh  (except when he said Ohlund has been steady). As for the Sedins, if they do not produce in these play-offs, you cannot argue that they have to go. If Sundin makes some kind of miraculous turn-around in the play-offs, then great, but that's pretty doubtful. Demitra hasn't played like the management hoped, Salo gets hurt more than a white dude in Harlem, Wellwood is Wellwood and Pyatt is a joke. I think the Canucks will hae a hard timme getting rid of this much dead weight.

Every team has dead weight and underachieving players. Do we have our fair share? Absolutely. If you let the Sedins go? Who is going to replace that point production in the regular season? Nobody in the farm....

Have they proven themselves in the playoffs? Nope. But we need to get to the playoffs first. You can thank Brian Burke for giving up all those assets to acquire the Sedins.

That's why they have trades in the NHL. If the Sedins shit the bed in the play-offs, then you dangle them as trade bait in the off-season. If a good opportunity presents itself, then pull the trigger. Trade Pyatt for a draft pick. NBA, NFL, Vietnam, any draft pick :p

Burke's got a hardon for the Sedin's, they don't do anything in the playoffs then I'd send them to the Leafs.

Ohlund is done and should not be resigned. The money he is asking for is out of line for what he is now capable of.
Yeah, this, "Seniority Pay" they expect is such a joke  It's funny though, when you listen to the talk shows and read the websites, many outside of Vancouver absolutely LOVE him  I'm guessing for the right team, he could be good trade bait?

Problem is he's a free agent and he can't be traded by us now. So time to let him walk.
What I meant was sign and trade if they feel there is enough interest in him from other teams.

If Ohlund wants to stay a Canuck he will have to take a discount. He is expendable.

This is Ohlund's chance to cash in on July 1st. Some team will pay him 5 million a year for next three years ( My guess is the leafs ).

Next season we have Salo 3.75 ( where is Tonya Harding when you need her ) Mitchell 3.5 Bieksa 3.5 Edler 3.25 and O'Brien is a RFA. There is your top 4 plus O'Brien and another depth defenceman round out your corps.

Here is a crazy idea, why spend money on Bouwmeester and spend the money on someone that can score goals. Novel idea, I know call me crazy. It is clear that Alex Burrows will be out top goal scorer followed by Ryan Kesler and Kyle Wellwood. Hey Daniel shoot the puck. Guys like Ovechkin, Parise and Carter are top 5 in shots on goal and goals. Daniel is over 200 shots behind Ovechkin and has half the goals, hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sorry about the rant.

uhh...trade bait? we're talking about Ohlund, right? he woulda been moved by the trading deadline if we could've got even a bag of pucks, we shlda done it, he's unrestricted so we gain NOTHING. so what i'm saying in a more meaner way, which I'm an expert in trashing these european players, is that NO ONE wanted him at THAT PRICE, which obviously, all teams didn't feel he was worth it. Let him rot.

Hopefully he'll get injured blocking a shot near the stretch or in the playoffs, serves him right.

And i do agree, on the few issues w/ trackie, is this seniority pay garbage. I dont care that he's the canucks all-time leading defenceman, what the f8ck has he done in terms of winning for the Nucks at the NHL level? ;)

Great work BJHunter...

BTW, just ignore Hubble Bubble...

three more asswipe homer media types for you consideration, Gordon McIntyre, (The Province), Jeff Patterson, (Georgia Straight), and the pathetic John Garrett. (Sportnet)...

the Canucks could finish 164 points behind a team and if they met that team in the playoffs, Garrett would take the Canucks in seven...

So because Garrett is a homer should someone wait outside for him and take a baseball bat to his knees? That would go hand in hand with Ohlund getting injured. Then you and BJH could sit and circle jerk together, while giggling uncontrollably. What a couple tards
have another drink Walter Mitty...

lol cause it's so true!
Now, that's one thing I can agree with Arrrg.

how Hubba twists words to suit his objective of looking 'good', is beyond comprehension. I wasn't talking about Garrett's knees; Ohlund, if he gets injured, well, serves him right for being greedy to get more $$$.

Cry me a river if you, Hubble, or those Ohlund cock lovers, Canuckleheads, etc. think he deserves this and that, relative to what others are making.

He's an unrestricted Swedish meatball that hasn't done jack all for this franchise. Being the top points for D men doesn't cut it in my high standards of success b/c Canuckleheads, typically, have a lower one; for example, just getting into the playoffs is a stanley cup in itself.

For the dozen elite teams in this league, you know they'll be in there every April.

Nucks, we just pray, don't we? and hope the other teams tank? isn't that the Canucklehead way of thinking? We're just not good enough to pound our chests and go forward, instead of seeing who's creeping behind us, year after year. You guys do know that the last month is an exception, an analomy, right?

Back to Ohlund, and better yet, the Swedish Meatballs. I'll even say this for even a Canadian player. If they want to test the free agent market, and not agree to $5.5-$6mill/yr, and get hurt, don't say that they didn't learn from Brendan Morrison.

So much for that stupid Ironman that this Nucks media played up to, that is, if those Canuckleheads have any resemblance of selective memory.
