Looks like I missed a little drama while I was out for dinner..? I saw the first few posts of a thread that is now gone so I'm assuming that's the crime scene.I have no idea who, how or what... all I know is that Isabelle seems to be bowing out.

Isabelle, I know it gets frustrating like hell sometimes. It is definitely a challenge to debate or play devils advocate on a message board (as opposed to face to face), especially with ppl who've never met you... and especially when ppl take it too seriously. BUT I do enjoy reading your witty posts and I LOVE that you say what you think and are not trying to kiss anyone's ass... also that you're extremely articulate when doing so. You can't stop posting!? I don't care if some feel we shouldn't be posting at all, I think us posting balances things out. Sometimes gives a different perspective on things. And there aren't that many of us.. and even less who actually give our opinion on things!
I have no idea what was said, but it was probably 1 or 2 members opinion.. I'm sure there are waaaay more who do read your posts and just like me, don't want to see you go into lurker mode..

I've been considering not posting after a couple comments that really upset/pissed me off about someone's opinion that we shouldn't be posting here and another who thought that's why SP's get beaten up (referring to my post..) Granted what I initially wrote was a little harsh (in the way it was written - IMHO still not out of line but should have still cooled off a little before posting ) but WTF is with these comments guys? Would you say it to my face? Would you let it go if you heard someone say that in your presence?


Why is it so common and ACCEPTED to have a member use the "you're just a hooker/escort/whatever" as some kind of argument? and then almost always followed by a "well it's not my fault if you have issues with your occupation"..which are both irrelevant to the topic being debated. I've read that so many times.. I guess it's the official "i have no more arguments but she does so let's just get her pissed off.." ?


I know most of you don't feel that way.. but why put up with it from others then? I think it's too bad that a few ppl make it so smart, real and interesting sexy girls like Isabelle don't want to post... and I'm sure lots more stay away for the same reason. Should we all just not bother at all?

So... Miss Bijou - you're reaching and attempting to extend a situation to a personal experience you previously encountered. There was no big "dust-up", no drama (move along please... nothing to see here), nothing to substantiate the reaction received.

Lebeau and I simply suggested that her rape reference was inappropriate. It's unfortunate she deleted the thread and felt obligated to offer up and lock a separate thread... all the while posturing for open debate and conversation.

Let's be perfectly clear as your post presumes to cast aspersion toward Lebeau and I... There certainly was no disrespect offered (or intended). Neither of us wrote anything along the lines of your stated, "you're just a hooker/escort/whatever" commentary". That must be in relation to your personal situation and an experience you previously encountered; i.e. the extension you're attempting to make with this thread.

suggestion: the use of a scatter gun approach invariably pulls in "innocent bystanders" - perhaps you should be a little more precise in your comments/targets.

There seems to be a serious lack of discretion & very little concern for others feelings on this board.

I personally could care less when someone attacks me as I tend to use my written sword in swift retribution with searing vituperation.

Few others bother to effectuate a wry & sardonic rejoinder in response to a slanderous comment.

Some just don`t possess the disdain to retaliate until they are pushed too far & then the dialogue usually lowers to an adolescent level.

By any measure that is the point of regret & where feelings get abused.

Asking people on this board to act mature is like training monkeys to drive cars.
- It can be done but who really wants to spend that much time on such a fleeting moment of glory.

That said I do implore that those who read this thread try to let it sink in & maybe if we all say a prayer together this may become a "kinder gentler" lounge to play in.

Did you actually see the now deleted thread in question? Miss Bijou states she didn't see the posts that apparently, as you say, caused "one of the intelligent ones to take off".

Would you accept that open respectful discussion validates the presence of an SP here... because there sure wasn't anything else going on in that thread. And if you didn't see the thread in question... the posts in question... she who casts the first troll stone!

i find this board to be a good source of information and yes, entertainment. sometimes i see posters attack each other to the point of being viscious and demeaning.

i also have seen some posters use the hooker/escort arguement when one of the ladies hits a home run and they have no come back. that is stupid and only shows their true colours.

many of the ladies on here display true wit, intelligence, and insight. i have contacted some as a result of their posts just to get another chance to enjoy their written attributes...tiana comes to mind..she i find really entertaining.

if a subject discussed on here hits a chord, write and discuss. the object of the board is not to always swing others to your point of view, rather, the object is to have the discussion and be exposed to other opinions and insights other than your own.

ladies keep posting and hitting the mark or just keep having fun...everyone, keep it lively, honest, entertaining, insightful etc but most of all keep an open mind.

This recent escapade was just the straw that broke the camels back.

You probably have not noticed OTBn, but there have been a LOT of people leaving & this is in no small part due to the way in which the moderators have decided to function on this board.

The moderators can do whatever the hell they want & there is nothing you can do about it because that is the terms under which you agreed to join this board.

In fact the Gestapo semblance is exactly what is causing so many to question the worth of contributing to any discussion on this board.

So if you feel as though Izzy over-reacted then you may have a partial truth but the other part, which it appears you have failed to grasp, is the ambiance that has become ubiquitous on this board for the last 2 months now.

But then again - apathy is bliss!

OTBN...the only real thing that I disagree with you here is this. I don't think anyone, myself, Bijou or Isabelle have ever asked for kid glove treatment whatsoever. That would be neither fun nor constructive. Treated fairly and not pounced upon in a way that censors our opinions in an unfair fashion? Um....yeah! That goes for both men and women.

The thread where you disagreed with Isabelle is a drop in a bucket. I know Isabelle and she can take alot more than that in stride and has.

As Mr.O said, Isabelle won't post here anymore because simply, she doesn't like the direction the board is headed. The moderators are the first people to say..."if ya don't like it, you can leave"....and she did. No fingers are pointed.
