I know...heard about it this morning. My band played there several times, great place to play, cool history, with all the pics on the walls of past performers, celebrities of the past and local personalities.

Hope they reopen...soon!

That would be great. Good fellas, for sure....just hope they can get a better P.A. for the bands and shows that play there, and a soundguy with a better ear. Met I think was Danny working the bar when we played there. Cool how they remove the poles for the bands, and that you can use the catwalk to get out in the audience while rocking out...

Very cool place....cultural icon?

I remember the good old days at The Drake....20 years ago.....the girls, the food, the shower, the girls.....and even the busboys that came around and cleaned ashtrays..... that place back then was classy.
Back then the #5 orange was a distant second.

Ther must be a LOT of girls working the streets now. It always amazed me how many SP's were working the Penthouse.

Oh man, I went to visit my folks yesterday. I was chatting with my old man when the local cantonese news channel came on with a story about the Penthouse. My dad blinked, looked kind of glum and said "Well, I guess I won't be going there anymore-". I nearly fell out of my chair.

so many good memories of that place. Back in the 60ies, you could walk in there and find probably 50 to 100 gals working the place. The better looking ones got individual tables while those less well endowed sat along the side lines. You got a pleasant smile from everyone as you walked by, and maybe even a sit down invite. Met some lovely gals there, in particular one name Lee who became a regular when I moved to Vancouver in the 70's. Ended up in town one night and slept in a hotel which used to be corner of Georgia and Hornby, kitty korner to Fairmount. As I walked in the room the message light on the phone was blinking, but no message. That night in Vancouver was totally unplanned, and no one would have been calling me. Went to sleep, within hour phone rang and a gal said "this is the gal who ate your steak at the Penthouse last night, can I come over". I had $25 in my pocket, enough to get to airport in the morning, and didn't expect this. i said yes, not realizing what I was saying, and within a few minutes in came this gorgeous gal. Had to explain the hard luck story and let her go, but it gave me a place to visit next time in Vancouver. Spent many a night there. Lots of good memories. Missed it when it went straight.

Hey, those high track girls looked pretty hawt! At least back when they stood almost shoulder to shoulder down Seymour.

You have to be better looking to snag a client if he meets and greets before he signs up to eat.

oh the high track ladies're hot all right... i was referring to the stories of them charging 300 to get them into the room, then upcharging for everything else - after the money changed hands!

The Penthouse was the first strip show I ever saw as a fresh faced 18 year old back in the day. You could get past the doorman without showing ID if you were going upstairs for a spaghetti dinner. After dinner or sometimes after skipping dinner, you could drop down the back stairs to the showroom below. The emcee then used to be a large African American woman that used to sing on the Variety Club telethon. I never reealized at the time why there were all these pretty girls at tables
in the show lounge. (If I'd know then what I know now... I'd prolly be to broke today to enjoy the ones I see now!)
