Oct 9th Violent assault on Commercial drive at E7th st. - ring any bells?

"Last Tuesday night at Commercial and E 7th, an acquaintance was gaybashed. Three male assailants shouted at him, "You look like a faggot." When he replied, "That's what I am," they physically assaulted him. He was unconscious before he hit the ground. His jaw and larynx are broken, he's heavily bruised, and three teeth were broken. VPD is investigating, but there have been no apprehensions. Spread the word, please."

It is horrible to think the men that did this haven't even been arrested at this point while the victim is left to manage the emotional and physical impact their vicious and senseless beating resulted in. Please share with others

Wow, this is a sad story. I'd really like for one of these homophobic hate-crime scumbags to try this with one of the completely ripped gay guys from my gym. Somehow I don't think they'd be so keen to call one of these guys a 'faggot.'

Of course everything about this makes me furious but they real kicker is that even if they do catch the scumbags that did this our justice system --and I use this term incredibly loosely-- will give them some absurd suspended sentence or maybe if we're lucky, 18 months in jail. Wow, this pisses me off.

18 months?! You kidding?! Better amend the Constitution Act and the laws and the justice system!
