Now a leg washes up under the Cambie st bridge.

Feet, torsos, heads (lower mainland and other parts of Canada).

Never understood how anyone can butcher another human being. I mean, JUST HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT?

The other thing I wonder about is, why is it seemingly becoming so common?

It's a sick world out there, and it's only getting sicker...

Not sure where you get this murder idea from, the news articles I found on this case said foul play is not suspected. And if it's connected to the cases of the feet found washed ashore (which it presumably is), those are not suspected to be the results of murder either. Not to get too graphic here, but when a body is submerged for a long period of time decomposition will begin, and the bones will break apart, however when the person is wearing a running shoe (which I believe all of the feet cases were, as well as the case today) that traps the remains in the shoe. And that's how you end up with all these feet washing ashore; the person likely drowned, they weren't actually murdered.

In regards to someone who would actually decapitate someone, I sincerely doubt it's becoming more common. There's always been psychos out there, and there always will be. When you actually think about how many serial killers or mass murders there's been in the last 50 years, it's a tiny, tiny percentage of the population. Barely even significant if it weren't murder we're talking about. The biggest thing that causes this illusion of things being worse, when they're in fact safer than ever before, is the access to information we have. We've never had this much access before, so of course we're going to find out about every single pedophile, murderer, and rapist in the entire world. 100 years ago, you knew what was happening in your own town only. The second contributing factor is that over last several decades, the need to sensationalize has grown steadily. So the media makes a mountain out of a molehill essentially, all to just to get an audience and make money. Things are safer now then they've been in the history of humankind, so let's not jump to hysterics.

If they drowned, it likely will have been reported, don't you think? Then wouldn't they put it together that a drowned person was the owner of the missing limb?

Also if they drowned, the body would not be submerged but floating. If it were submerged for awhile, then I do understand how the limbs would become separated.

I think when they say "no foul play is suspected", it means that the evidence so far can be explained by other causes and no evidence exists that points to foul play. However, severed limbs and dead bodies unaccounted for.... even though technically no foul play suspected so far, still what are the likely causes?

As a matter of fact in a few cases the foot has been matched to a missing person. So unless there's "copycat killer" out there copying what legitimately was a drowning, there's a chance they could all be like that. DNA is not as simple as in CSI, there's been plenty of other cases where they haven't been able to match up a body to a missing person, let alone a foot that's been decomposing in an ocean.

Lots of people go missing, many are not reported. Especially if they are on the margins of society.

A drowned body doesn't allways float. The floating comes from internal gasses released during decomposition, once those escape the body will eventually sink again.

The news doesn't seem to report when the investigation clears up where the limb came from, I've noticed. They are quick to refer to prior stories about them being found, but the story behind the story doesn't get as much (if any) air time.

I don't know if this has happened in the past and not found to be newsworthy, or it is a new phenomenon either.
