Not-quite-Independence Day (Who's pulling the strings?)

You see the term "independent" used fairly often when see an SP's ad. I've just been curious lately if that is another part of the illusion and there's more of an organization behind the scenes (e.g. pimps/gangs). I can understand from a provider's point of view that there's the security/management aspect of having that kind of backing. Just curious from others, how many truly independent providers you think operate.

I can think of a few, but ultimately it would only be guessing. Was there a more specific question you were trying to get at, like how many are being exploited? I believe there is a difference between having a pimp/ manager and being exploited.

I was astonished to find out that some SPs who claimed to be "independent" to me did have a pimp or boyfriend to back them up. I understand that they need someone to back them up in case of a security concern but I am worried that some of them might be working against will due to being blackmailed, owing debt etc to someone. I guess it's really hard to know but the general rule is that well reviewed girls with their own websites with stellar reviews and service are likely not being forced to work against their will.

Impossible to say, I drove for a couple of ladies years ago who really were independent.

Almost all the ladies in the eighties were pimped. The pimps had there own little after hours club on Sherbrooke. They were a tight knit group.
There was similar club in Calgary east of the police HQ. And one in Vancouver on Richards. Territory on the strolls was tightly controlled and wandering into someone else's turf was cause for a beating.

Girls who are independent and have a real life usually don't work 24/7. And they usually don't look haggard or unhealthy.

The pimp's hangout was on 4th St SE between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue. It might have been called "Meanwhile's".
