Great. Now what? Death to all who oppose the Great Leader? Are they to launch by the end of the week? Why aren't there more people talking about this?

Seriously...this is big. These guys see themselves in a total," Us vs. Them" scenario, and now they've tested a device that can be delivered by a reasonably long range missile. That is, if they can bolt it on without blowing themselves up. Missile can reach Japan, Hawaii, and I think Alaska...which pretty much means us, kiddies.

Not to sound like Lightbrain or Wessy....but do you folks think we might have a shitstorm brewing here?

North Korea just completed another nuclear weapon test. Even though it was the underground test and the bomb was much weaker than the conventional atomic bomb, it is a very serious matter when you consider they have the capability of long range missile, possibly to North America.

The leader is absolutely mad and bully. When his people are suffering from lack of food, he spent so much on this destructive weapon. One of possibilities is he can sell these bombs to any terrorist to set these ones anywhere!

We need to kick his ass!:D

Hmmm... okay you boys are much more knowledgable than me in this area.... So let me know, how worried should I be?
Me personally, I'm not worried, they haven't gotten a nuke to work right yet. They also don't have a delivery system big enough to carry any nuke they can build. Early nukes are massive and their missles are inaccurate and puny.

I dunno why the West and neighbouring countries are scared by North Korea. It's not like they're gonna start invading South Korea and Japan, considering that the US and other allied countries will be rushing in to defend and rain bombs on the North.

The South Koreans has basically half their population with military training, resources for the best military technology and with an American taskforce within it's borders. Japan, as much are they are considered as "pacifist", the Japanese Self-Defense Force has about 250,000 personnels in their branches, plus they also have near-cutting edge technology too.

As for starting an arms race, S. Korea and Japan can already start manufacturing nuclear weapons if they wanted to.

A small punk (North Korea) is carrying a tiny pocket knife (small nuclear arsenal), and is threatening other richer people and powerful giants (S. Korea/Japan/USA). But for whatever reason, the collective group is handing over their wallets (resources/money/technology).

I'm more worried about Taiwan, maybe they might decide to declare official independence if there is a conflict in the 38th parallel, hoping that China will be too focused on their Northern borders to react properly. If China does react, the USA will be forced into a position to "get in the way", thus triggering a chain reaction that pits China vs USA (my money is still on the USA/NATO/ANZUS/etc).
Then with the rest of the world occupied, Russia will just steamroll former USSR territories.

I don't worry about their long range-missile system to deliver any powerful atomic bomb to North America. If anyone have seen the movie called the sum of all fears by Tom Clancy, you will understand this dirty bomb can do. It is not as powerful as atomic bomb, but it can do enough damage to destroy any major cities. I am sure that's what any terrorist wants to do.

We should kick this bully's ass soon!:D

What's to worry about? Let's say that they are nuclear capable, have a huge stash of nuclear weapons and decide to destroy all of North America... What exactly would you do? Run? Hide? Join the army? I don't see the sense in worrying about something that you have no control over.

with N Korea, it's a chess game. if you don't have the nuclear capability, you won't be feared, look at india and pakistan, they had to go nuclear at the same time to max out the stalemate. for any dictator now, if i have a nuke, then others will think twice about coming in, look at iraq, if that guy had a nuke, the US wouldn't have gone in. it's because of iraq that the crazy korean guy made a nuke, now US can't go marching in.

Having a nuke and being able to deliver it are two completely different things. Fortunately there's a small window here to disrupt both Iran (which has the ability to deliver) but hasnt enriched enough uranium yet and N.Korea which obviously has an active nuclear arsenal but no reliable method of delivery.

If the international community is not willing to deal with Iran I have no doubt Israel will; and mark my words its going to get done before the end of this year. The Jewish lobby is powerful enough to deal with any fallout that will result with the new administration.

I'm glad but surprised to see both Russia and China supporting security council resolutions condemning NKorea. I'm not sure how far China will be willing to go with sanctions against their fellow scumbag commie allies. The doomsday scenario of course is if they manage to do a technology for enriched uranium swap and accelerate the whole process. If there's reliable intelligence to that effect I doubt that the US, or US and Britain would wait long before exercising the military option.

The real problem with NKorea having a nuke is not in its use but what they're willing to sell it and swap it for. In the past they've ceased their nuclear program for oil from the US can you imagine how much oil they'd get for a couple of nukes from any of the oil producing countries? Venezuela, Sudan, Saudi, Iran or even little piss ant Brunei.

Melissa it won't kill you to click on the CNN or BBC websites once in a while. It cant be a good feeling running around feeling oblivious to the world around you.

The problem with N. Korea is that the citizens are 100% brainwashed from birth and the leadership is certifiably delusional and insane. The people learn from birth that Kim Jong-il is the greatest man on earth. They are taught stuff like Who was the first person to walk on the moon --- Kim Jong-il, Who invented the airplane --- Kim Jong-il.

This makes the N. Koreans extremely hard to negotiate and reason with. The leaders want nuclear weapons not to actually use them as weapons but as bargaining chips to use when trying to get stuff from the rest of the world.

After the first nuclear bomb test the world made big concessions to N. Korea if they would stop their nuclear program. And well now they tested another bomb but if you read the news the last few months they have been threatening to continue their testing to get the UN and the USA to enter talks with them and trying to get more concessions.

I think the chances that they would actually use a nuclear weapon is 1 in a billion so no real worries there but just the fact they have viable weapons puts them on the world stage and the rest of the world has no choice but to listen to them and deal with them on their terms.

lol

I still don't understand why the world is afraid of a tiny country with ONE nuke, yet China/Russia has more than enough nukes to probably up Earth to it's core.

North Korea may be aggressive, but what can you really do with a nuke? Assuming you're not a terrorist. Pyongyang isn't gonna nuke Seoul or Tokyo just to "teach them a lesson", if they did, the entire landmass of North Korea would be obliterated into the ocean within minutes.

Kim Jong Il: Now you see, the new world is inevitable.
Lisa: It's what?
Kim Jong Il: Inevit - inevitable.
Lisa: One more time?
Kim Jong Il: Inevitable! Things are inevitably going to change! Goddamnit, open your fuckin' ears!

But even if N. Korea sells a nuke to the terrorists, don't countries keep a list of nukes. I mean if the US gets nuked and you're able to trace it to North Korea...

If North Korea is stupid and suicidal, they would have attacked the South already. As far as I see things, North Korea is basically hand-cuffed, since they can't do anything without being annhiliated.
