Yeah, apparently they were quite disappointing. Took some of the high-end brands off the shelves and shipped them out before the sale even began. (I guess to their US stores that are not closing.)
I've seen this happen before - stores whose "final sale" is so miserly you can see why they went out of business in the first place.

I do not have much faith on this Zellers thing. Just pop-up Zellers sections in other stores, not an actual revival of proper Zellers stores.

Glad I didn't waste my time going. I was tempted, but meh. It is a sad day, however. Nordstroms was always a good store for me. The service was usually above par, their shoe selection was always fantastic as that is (used to be) what they were known for, at least in Seattle. While stores come and go with the times, my gut tells me it will be a long time before that space is filled again, and I doubt it will be with something sensible, much less as an attraction. I think I heard about Ikea moving into downtown at some point as well, which makes zero sense due to said traffic issues. I don't like going downtown any more anyway, so no big loss for me, but the city in general is just looking even less appealing.
