Anybody know what is considered a nonessential service? The government has announced all nonessential services to shut down starting today. Once again the government is very vague regarding what is, and what isn't an essential service.

My business is an essential service, the only one.

Which government announced this? I can't find any reference in the news for BC or Canada. Thanks.

Could be Manitoba only. Once again they have a list but are rather vague in their descriptions. Same as rent. Manitoba states you have to pay your rent, but if you don't you can't be evicted. So what they are saying without saying it is rent does not have to be paid.
Fricking government.

Thanks for clarifying. Ontario and BC has both published list of essential businesses, but BC hasn't declared closure of all non essential businesses yet.

I don't know why construction is considered essential. Like if you're building something health related then yeah sure but i'm working in a residential low rise right now. And conditions on construction sites are not the best out there. Usually I don't mind but with this virus going on makes me pretty nervous.

Not sure why I’m still going to work either.
I’m running the site for a small single family home and we’re still going. Until we’re mandated to “shut down” my boss says “business as usual! Keep the site going!” Doing my best to keep people civilized on site, Limiting the number of guys on site at a time, added a wash sink running off a garden hose and Lysol wipe high contact surfaces daily.

My boss had a freak out the other day because there’s now delays from our suppliers (cabinets, flooring etc)! I’m being told daily less and less people want to go to work(IE, our suppliers)
Well business isn’t “as usual” for fuck sakes and the schedule won’t be to a T! Big part of me would be very grateful if the government would grow some fucking balls and shut everything down!

Even just to do my little part for society myself and also having all these construction workers such as myself and guys on all these jobsites around town stay the FUCK HOME!!

These single family homes don’t fucking constitute as “essential” in my opinion! Infrastructure such as highways, utilities and hospital construction would be classified as essential, not the bullshit myself and the company I’m working for are building!

Don’t get me wrong I’m appreciative of the fact I’m making income, but man alive it feels so wrong right now!
Getting a lot of dirty looks from people walking by shaking their heads like “why the fuck are you guys still working???” Great fun!
