No More Appointments....I HAVE HAD IT!!!!!!!

Ok I am venting here BIG time. I know this is nothing new to the SP's and it happens to all of us. But these last couple of days has really had me flipping out.
I have taken 4 appointments in the last two days and only one called in to say that he couldnt make it. Meanwhile passing by others that have come to the door. I dont even get a chance to meet them cause I am waiting for clients to show up....only they dont show up....no phone call ....nothing.

So this is it. I have had it. I will only take appointments with those that have already been with me. And for those of you that do make appointments and dont show up.....I WONT SEE YOU AGAIN BY APPOINTMENT ANYMORE.

So basically you walk in and hope I am available or show up to appointments if you make them.

If anyone can suggest what else I can do...then I am all ears.

Its upsetting when I have a family of 7 to support on this income and I am walking away with only one client a day cause others dont show when they do make appointments.

Sorry for venting but I am reallly upset with stuff like this happening.

I agree with you as far as not scheduling anyone you haven't seen before. If you have seen them before and they have to cancel or will be late for some reason, that's one thing, but if they cannot have the courtesy of even giving you a call... they deserve it.

When I have an appointment, even if I am only going to be a few minutes late, I will phone and let the SP know. Quite frankly, if someone schedules an appointment and repeatedly cancels, they should also fall into that category... namely no-appointments.

Bloody shame is what it is. Especially for such a sweet gal like you!

I think that you are well within your rights to only accept appointments from repeat clients . It is my practice to call if I will be less than 5 mins early!

I'm not surprised to see this. A few of the girls I've talked to have seen a breakout of this behaviour lately and its really depressing. Too bad people toss out etiquette when it suits them. Maybe you should just let appointments know to arrive early and to phone if they are gonna be late. Any customers on walkin can just be notified that you may have an appointment arriving in 20 minutes, and if they would like to wait, that you would be please to see them if your suddenly available.

For me...I'd always call if i was gonna be late or can't make it. Just the right thing to do.

What April is upset about is the norm, unfortunately she's gotten a bigger hit in the last couple of days then a normal 1 or 2 typical NO-shows.

How I get around no-shows is I request a confirmation call about an hour prior to our visit. I let them know, if I dont hear from them within that time frame that I will assume something has happened in their life or they changed their mind - it gives him an easy out and me a chance to book someone else.

Being a VERY low mileage gal (VERY few bookings per/week) it's important for me to obtain a certain amount of visitors, to cover basic expenses. I can't even imagine supporting a family of 7 ~good for you April~

I sometimes thinks the boys are horny when they call and it passes just as quickly. And instead of loosing face with a call, "Can't make it" they decide we're not worth the effort of a courtesy call because somewhere in their pea heads where not really human beings, but throw away commodities ~sigh~

That is probably true and the case in alot of instances.

I feel bad you have these things to deal with April. I can’t explain why this happens. There must be many difficulties because of the nature of this hobby. I think some appointments most likely are not scheduled in day planners or on bulletin boards. There may have to be creative maneuvering to honor the time made with you while trying to juggle business or personal commitments. I can’t think of an excuse not to call, I’ve cancelled many appointments but I always try to give enough notice for the girls to re-book or meet a walk in.

And then there are some guys, I don’t know why but they feel cheated or ripped off some how. They just don’t appreciate women and take them for granted. Maybe it’s just malice to sabotage your day. It happens a lot from what I’ve heard so the only thing you can do is screen clients first. It’s too bad there are guys like this, it’s a simple courtesy to call and cancel.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I know guys can be assholes, but maybe someone is trying to mess with you??

Probably a good idea to only allow regulars to make appointments for a while. Another option, which I've been on the other side of, is that if a guy calls and tries to book during a time you have an appointment, ask him to check in a bit later. If your appointment doesn't show and if the guy is still willing, he can come and pinch hit. I don't know if all guys like being Plan B, but I didn't mind it at all.

I have also been on the "booty call" list for one of my favourites. If she wanted some company/business, she would give me a ring. Again, not all guys appreciate this so you have to know beforehand that calling him is ok, but I loved it

April I fully understand your frustration regarding appointments, as the very same thing(s) have happened to me and still happen. Honestly it's quite ridiculous as some gentlemen may not or choose to not understand that we don't get paid hourly(as in hourly wage) unless we see a client. So by losing that appointment because he no showed or whatever may have happened it sorta defeats the purpose of working. Obviously.

I've tried many things to help this appointment problem from happening, however to be honest nothing really works. Either they are going to show up on time, show up late, no show or cancel. So pretty much they are going to do what they want regardless and you have no way of avoiding that problem unless you can precisely keep track of the guy(s) who are no showing, etc. But you and me both know that's quite hard as well.

I don't know about you April, but I've run out of ideas to keep this appointment thing in line...? To be honest I've often thought and still have my days where I wonder if taking appointments are even worth it anymore.

April, one more thing babe maybe just rely on a thing called "karma". Whether it's a no show, another jealous SP from another studio making bogus appointments(happens all the time I'm sure ) etc...just remember that it will eventually come around and bite 'em in their ASS!!!

Yes, this seems to be a common problem that is getting worse. Some guys are just brain dead. But let's not put 100% of the blame on the guys out there. As mentioned on a couple posts on this thread, don't count out a number of these bogus appontments being made by other jealous SPs through their boyfriends or clients. Anybody would be naive to think otherwise. Hell, I've even heard of some SPs doing it to their co-workers. It's not that hard to write down fake appointments in the book or even double book a gal.

I believe Kendra also reached the breaking point on no shows so that's why she came up with her current system of only booking with her directly, either through PERB or her e-mail address. It would be interesting to hear from Kendra weather it has made a vast difference or not.

its easy .... only take appointments if they give you a phone number you can call them back at ... if they aren't there at the start of the hour, call e'm up and ask them if they're still coming

if they aren't serious they probly won't want to give you the number - but either way you can at least find out if they're coming .... or maybe just running late.

Well couple weeks back I showed up at legends for my 9am appointment to see Vienna and the girls said she'll be with you shortly. After waiting about fifteen minutes a gal tells me your running late, but will be coming, then asked if I would like to see someone else. I got the vibe that she was telling me I was in for quite a wait and decided to see Josie. Which turned out good!

So one suggestion, maybe try and be there when you are supposed to be. I got the impression from the staff reaction that this wasnt the first time this has happened with you!

Hence, if you notice alot are just skipping Edmonton and going straight to Calgary. Regardless of who's doing it (client or SP or BOTH), it's just bad karma.

Calgary is not immune to this problem and have had their share of no shows as well. Just ask some of the local SPs who have paid a visit to Calgary.
