Do things really cost that much more in Fort Mac? I have heard of one bedroom apartments that would cost $1000 in Edmonton going for $2500 in Fort Mac, and Timmy's workers making $18 and hour? If that is the case, $400/hr for an SP is not way out of line...

That being said, her ads says $400/hour is her Saturday special rate. Yikes.

Forget that, I've heard during the boom, with no houses, they'd rent a COUCH for like $800 a month just so they'd have an indoor place to sleep.

Interestingly enough just last week a couple of FT Mac guys were trying to convince a traveling gal to come up to FM with the lure of more $ per hour than she could make in E-town.

I'm calling BS there Jim. There has been a lot of talk but I don't remember anyone saying SP rates were higher up here. Yes it is true that houses cost more and it is expensive to rent an apartment. To clarify for everyone the average family home in Fort McMurray costs about $650,000. To rent a nice furnished room in someone's home it costs between $800 and $1200 depending on a number of factors...


Oh yes and BTW I will not be booking wit Little Miss Penthouse ;-)
