Actually a sex worker (SW) in any country can be someone who's interested in finding a husband, whether her prospect is a client or someone else. It just so happens, because of grave poverty & the extreme wealth gap between PHI SWs & foreign customers, that this interest probably occurs much more often in places like the Philippines. And probably much more often the poor PHI or Thai SP ends up with a catch than SWs in first world countries.
In much of Asia "face" is more important than truth. A person can be offended by being told the truth, so in Asia especially it may be advisable to keep this in mind. If a person who is a sex worker is offended to be called such, it does not mean she is not what she is, even if she lives in a fantasy world in her own mind wherein she thinks of herself as something else.
Many bar workers in the Philippines are officially called GROs, Guest Relations Officers. They may not even see themselves as SWs or at least prefer not to think in those terms. Prostitution is illegal in the country, so obviously "prostitute" is not going to be their official designation.
These GROs are often taken out of the bar for the night, called EWR (Early Work Release), in which the client pays the bar a fee to have her for what they call in Thailand "Long Time", much like the barfine system in Thailand. What occurs between the two is up to and between the two consenting adults. Sometimes it is negotiated in fine detail before paying of the EWR or leaving the bar. Often customers take the GRO for something to eat or other activities before going to the pooner's hotel. Or at the hotel they may eat, talk & watch TV together. Sleeping together, as in the nonsexual activity, is quite common. Many guys say it can be difficult to get rid of the GRO in the morning after they wake up. PHI GROs have a rep for not only providing GFE but actually being like that as in meeting a girl at a bar in Canada.
Whether or not they provide sex to the customer is up to the GRO. Sometimes they don't. Some may feel it's their duty to do so or their job may be lost if they don't. Others may feel giving sex will help their chances of hooking the guy as a BF or husband.
"A GRO in the Philippines in a bar is supposed to "entertain" the customers. They will usually try to provide some small talk, shoulder rub, sing karaoke and stuff in exchange for either a "ladies drink" (where they get a commission), tip or outright fee. Different bars have different ways of charging for the services.

With many who work legally in bars their official title is Guest Relations Officers (GRO's). They need a work permit for this employment & it requires a health check for STIs on a regular basis. If they fail the test then they are not supposed to be allowed to work.
