Anyone know where to get a really good sandwich after 6:00pm? I'm not talking your franchise outlet - I mean those really good Commercial Drive-type belly busters full of all kinds of cheeses and meat and on great bread. They all seem to be day time places that serve them.

So nobody actually knows where this poor bastard can get a good sandwhich when he wants a midnight snack!!!!

PS: fresgos on Davie has a beef dip and some other sandwhich shit to choose from. What do I know, I don't cruise around Van looking for sandwhich joints. :p

your mom says hi.
i've never seen a place like that out here. you probibly have to go to like toronto or montreal for that shit. i've been looking for a good deli. not just a good late deli but just a decent deli in general.

it pissed me off one day i went to an "italian" deli and it even said "italian deli" on the sign, and everyone behind the counter was chinese. now i'm not saying "oh chinese bad, blah, blah, blah." but just once in this city i'd like to go to an italian, portuguese, spanish or jewish deli and actually have it be those people.

now if the sandwich i had there was good i really wouldn't be complaining, but it wasn't. i can and have made better purschuito sandwiches at my house.

they only had brown or white bread and it was like that store bought shit from like save on foods or something. also they only had two kinds of cheese, cheddar or edam. what the fuck is that all about.

back east i could go to a deli from 11am up til about 1am and order one sandwich and be full. so yeah i second the question. if anyone knows of a place let me know as well.

The name of the place escapes me right now, but it's at 15th & Oak. Actual deli in the Jewish district. I don't know how late they are open.

Or the new one on Knight (I believe). I think it's open all night. Their steak sandwich is only $3.50 on a nice fresh bun with chilies and avocado. The best deal in town!

Try siegals bagels I think it was in Kitts but I am not positive. I also believe it was open all night there is a Starbucks beside it. Best bagels I have ever had and the sandwich I had was also great.

If you like smoked meat sandwiches you should try Frenchie's on Commercial. You order the sandwich by the ounce. I know even the second biggest is way to big for me to get my mouth around. (Am I setting myself up here?)

yeah memphis makes a mean pulled pork or brisket sandwich but and i hate to hijack, lol, but i'm talking more like italian, portuguese, or jewish deli style sandwiches.

like where you can get all sorts of different breads, cheese and they slice the meat up right there for you on sight and shit like that.

the smoked meat at frenchies is really good. had that too. was very disapointed in their poutines. well maybe thats a bit strong. their poutines were alright, the cheese and the gravy is the authentic shit but thier fries need some improvement.

i've seen a place on west broadway and cambie that will open soon called "zako's" maybe this will be my long awaited oasis.
