October 29 at the Mandalay Bay. Since it's not in Diaz's nature to keep his yap shut, the build up for this fight should be incredible. Better then the Koscheck buildup. Too bad it wasn't put in Montreal like first rumored, but I'm sure Diaz would have nixed that since he seemed to have held all the power in the negotiations. He got a nice shiny new 8 fight cross promotion deal so he can fight in either SF or UFC.

As for the fight itself, GSP will use his superior wrestling and grind him down with takedowns and ground and pound.

Build up = Diaz never shuts his trap. GSP sits back and says nothing disrespectful.

Fight = GSP shuts Diaz up.

Just my opinion. :p

Any main card fight with GSP is all hype and no sizzle...

Can't be bothered with GSP, the guy is simply boring in the ring. Most over-rated MMA fighter EVER!

Yes anyone WHO IS NOT IN UFC is not there because they couldn't cut it. The UFC is the ELITE of the ELITE!? LOL Hard to say that without laughing.
Actually, the biggest paying show is bound to attract the best fighters. They go out of their way to bring in the rising stars of MMA, so by definition they are the Elite of the Elite. There may be some holdouts that think they have more integrity, but the fact is the vast majority of top notch fighters migrate to the UFC. Why wouldn't they? They fight for money and/or fame and the UFC is where the money/fame is at.

You are a dumb mother fucker..... Have you ever spent even 5 seconds at a martial arts class? Obviously not. So why comment on shit you know nothing about? Oh wait you watch every PPV and you know the names of a few moves. You're an expert!?

GSP is a pretty proud martial artist. he respects his opponents and he expects them to respect him back. if they do, he wins his fights with them, but he doesn't hurt them too badly. BUT, if they yap him off in the pre-fight - if they yap him off with disrespect, then he will HURT them - and i mean hurt them BAD!!

probably the two most dis-respectful (in the pre-fight) fighters he faced were serra and koschek (personally i think dana white tricked them into their disrespectful attitudes). and look at what gsp did to them... serra: smashed ribs and severely busted face. koschek: severely busted face. serra has never fought again. koschek may never fight again either, although he is made of somewhat sterner stuff than serra so he might. but both fighters were severely demolished and severely HURT.

i predict that if diaz disrespects gsp in his pre-fight comments, he will end up like serra and koscheck or maybe worse. gsp comes from a karate background - kyokushinkai - which is a VERY hard-hitting, head-hunting japanese style. the only reason he doesn't knock people out is because he doesn't want to - but he knows where all the weak bone structures are - especially in the head - at he knows exactly how to bust them

yeah maybe his kata isn't as fancy as miss fancy-pants kata master from france, but that's because he is a fighter. he would definitely lose the kata competition to miss fancy pants - but he would clean her clock in the octogon. its all about what you specialize in

different martial arts styles all look very different at the coloured belt stage. but as the practitioners start to work their way up through the black belt stages, they diversify in their training until they all start to resemble a sort of jiu-jitsu comprising stand-up, take-downs, wrestling, limb and joint destruction, submissions, etc. - so don't talk about different styles being better than any other styles - it doesn't work that way. it all depends on the individual

back in the day one of the gracie's came to vancouver riding on a standing bet that nobody could win a fight against him, and he really did have the credentials to prove it. a dude from a tae kwon do school in vancouver accepted the challenge, walked up to him, and in a move that you had to see to believe the speed, cold-cocked him with a single fist blow to the chin, bowed and walked calmly out of the ring - and he wasn't even the best in his club!

I gotta agree with gary, GSP is obviously kings of the WW, by a large margin too.
However, anytime you watch him fight, you dont really want to see him get in close and trade.
Thats one place he doesn't have the advantage over a lot of the guys.

But thats why he is the best right, if he CAN outbox someone, he will.
If he cant, he will take them down. End of story Kos/Shields stand, Hardy/Alves ground.

Now whats with that Kata???? Who cares, its like comparing Micheal Phelps to a diver............oh look at that huge splash he made hitting the water. Kata is an art form

The loss to Serra turned GSP into a careful fighter. He clearly outclassed Serra, but Serra got lucky. GSP was being aggressive and paid for it. These days he is much more reserved and careful, for fear of losing when his opponent capitalizes on a mistake. That is why he is boring to watch in my opinion. He clearly has the talent and skill to dominate, but he is the champion of an entire country and afraid of losing.

I have always liked Nick Diaz, in his early days he would go out and let it hang and get beat on points. I believe that he just could not get his head wrapped around that. He had a colouful personality as well as a mouth. I am interested in seeing if he has taken steps to actually win or is just a lot of colourful talk. I find GSP is boring these days but he is the champion as well he seems indomitable in his game. Just my thoughts.........
