So far, quite a snoozefest.

I'd say the biggest name out there is Erik Karlsson. Probably my favourite D man to watch if I tune in to a Sens game. Great wheels, sees the ice very well and rarely gives up the puck. I am sure he wants to play for a potential Stanley Cup contender and the Sens probably won't trade him to an Eastern team. He will probably go to a team in the Canucks division. Even Vegas has been discussed since they have Cap room.

Evander Kane to the Sharks as a rental player. He is a free agent July 1.

Canucks. Well, if they are really going to the youth movement as they have told the fans; no better time to start is the trade deadline and not July 1st. Get what you can for some viable assets and get either picks or some good potential in the system already. I'm still a fan but quite disappointed with the lack of shaking up the line up. Is this the year the Sedin's retire or move elsewhere?

Any picks or predictions?

Sedins have publicly said NO to any trade. Will retire first, but hinting on returning to Canucks next year

11:30 and Vanek is still a Canuck.
This management group is really shitting the bed.
Benning/Linden- please, surprise me........
Anyone not named Horvat, Boeser or Demko should be in play.
Holm for Leipsic? What does Leipsic bring to the table besides a cheap salary? We already have under achieving forwards. Just what we need- a 2012 3rd rounder. Not really sure about this one.
At least Holm was defensive depth. Maybe as an RFA next year he wasn't deemed worthy of a qualifying offer to $1M + ?

Vanek for Jussi Jokinen and Tyler Motte? No picks?
JJ is a 34 year old UFA- am I missing something here?
And exactly what does Motte have to offer?
Was there zero market for Vanek? Is his rep that bad?
Benning couldn't wrangle a second rounder out of anyone, considering all the other stuff that went down? Even a third and a seventh could be viewed as a minor success.
Might as well just keep Vanek to work with Brock then.
I mean, Evander Kane as a strict rental gets a 1st, a 4th and an unnamed player?
Boston blew a full load for Rick Nash. Rangers even retained 50% of his salary!
FFS- is Benning even taken seriously by the other GMs out there?
And I'm not even a Benning basher. But I'm leaning that way.

Nice day to be a Jets fan.
Everyone was bashing Chevy in the past for not being able to pull the trigger on deals and today only has to give up a 1st rd pick, 4th rounder and a mid level prospect to get a legitimate distributing centre to feed Laine and Ehlers through the playoffs, not to mention getting St. Louis to eat half of his salary.
Some other contending teams pulled some decent moves, but with how scary this Jets team has looked these past few weeks I can't see many teams wanting to have to come in here when playoff time comes.
Some touring SP's may want to look at booking some time in Winnipeg in late April and May because I think we may be in a pretty celebratory mood...

A 1st, a 4th and a prospect/players seems to be the going rate for impending UFAs.
Some deals are OK, some not so much.
But I like this one - Stastny should be a big help to the Jets. He's a gamer and will fit right in to the culture.
Better than Kane to the Sharks for about the same price.
And far better than the Nash deal- Boston bent over and the Rangers did all the driving on that one.

Thomas Tatar to the Knights was solid for Detroit- a 1st and 2nd this year, and a 3rd next year.
This years picks are closer to high 2nd and 3rd rounders given the Golden Knights position in the standings, but if they flame out in the first playoff round those picks move into the later middle of the first and second draft rounds.
Tough player to lose for the Wings, but the payoff looks pretty good.
Not sure why the GKs gave up these high picks, though. Their season is a massive success. Should just ride it out with the group they have and see where they end up.

Nashville did well to get Ryan Hartman for a 1st, 4th and a prospect from Chicago.
Chicago did OK also, considering their place in the league this year.
Hartman isn't a superstar by any means, but he adds a lot to the Preds, who I think can afford a late round first rounder as they push towards their first Cup.
Hartman is an RFA, but can be qualified at a very friendly number and the Preds keep control of his rights.

Maroon only went for a 3rd and a prospect so the market for Vanek was zippo.

Jokinen was basically a condition to the deal, Canucks had to take him or Columbus wouldn’t do the deal. I don’t mind either of the players picked up today, both can skate and Leipsic is a bit of an agitator like Burrows but more talent and both are young.

Holm was insignificant, he won’t be an NHLer. Another screwed up Swedish move by the Nucks ala Rodin and Larsen.

I think the Jets did quite well today. A D man and a Centre are usually what most teams try to load up on prior to the playoffs.

They certainly are a tough team to play against. Hope they go deep in the playoffs :thumb:

I just listened to Linden on Team 1040. There just wasn't any draft picks offered and there wasn't much market for Vanek anyways. I think he was inferring they just wanted to move Vanek because they would have lost him anyways July 1. He didn't rule out signing him again after July 1 since he has generally played well with the younger players and was good especially on the PP.

And remember when Vanek was signed originally, just before the season started. No one wanted him, that’s how the Canucks got him so cheaply.

He’s very talented, can still score but has stiffed the last couple of teams that picked him up at the deadline, most recently Florida, who didn’t even dress him in last years playoffs, if I’m not mistaken. GM’s remember that shit and you only get so man6 second chances.

Agree relative to the Jets. They are now loaded. A big team that can beat you up and also skate and score. Good for that market!! Bettmans gonna shit his pants if the Peg is in the Stanley Cup Finals lol.

Sounds somewhat OK in principle, but where is the roster spot?
Dollars to donuts the Sedins return.
Gagner, Sutter and Eriksson aren't going anywhere at their salaries.
Virtannen is sticking. Likely Baertschi as well- barring a Draft day trade.
Horvat and Boeser are keepers.
That's 8 spots likely for sure.
What about other skill players like Goldobin and Boucher? Experiment now over?
Role players Archibald, Gaunce, Granlund, Dowd? And the rest of the farm hands?
New guys Leipsic and Motte?
And the fresher young picks and prospects like Dahlen, Gaudette and Petterson.

If this team in 2018-19 is still constructed similar to this year then we have serious problems.
Where Vanek coming back makes a lot of sense is beyond me.
