Division playoffs. If not, then what's the point in having divisions?

how would u describe the playoff format as it is now?

Top team vs bottom team all the way through the playoffs. 1st Round will be 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5. but after that...For sure the number 1 team will get Home Ice advantage and the 8 team will visit first, the rest depends on the out come of the other series. So lets say 4 beats 5 four straight games, then Number 4 has to wait the outcome of the other series because Number 4 could take on the lowest rank team left or be the lowest rank team.

You've got it wrong.
In each division it's one vs wildcard and two vs three.

Second round it stays divisional.
Third round is conference final where remaining teams play.
fourth round is nhl final.

And that is how much I follow the screwed up league, where millionaire prima-donnas always cry saying they refuse to sign when the difference they want and the owners willing to pay is a few thousand dollars and owners throwing out $5-10m a year contracts to mediocore players only to cry poor as well.
Anyone else have a job where you can make millions a year and still demand more when the company or parent comapny makes a profit?
