Does anyone have any intel on this new Skylight Spa on Hastings in North Burnaby?
I am not sure where to put this... as I don't want to muck up my next review with a bunch of negative stuff at the beginning... but I think this is intel worth reporting.
I saw these ads coming up recently (I think starting yesterday, Monday March 16) for a new shop opening across the street from Safeway in North Burnaby.

I was planning to go to an AMP today, and this is right in my usual commute... so I was going to give it a try. TOFTT... as they say.
The ad says to text... so I thought I would find out what info that would get me. I text. No response. 20 minutes go by. I drive over there. I go down the alley and look for a back entrance. Nothing stands out as obvious. I don't see a sign, but I did only drive by one time. I park and walk to the front.
Sure enough, it is where it is supposed to be... right by Don Oso's Mexican restaurant (which I do recommend... almost no seating, but great food) in the middle of the block.... on the North side of Hastings right across from Safeway.
The light-up "OPEN" sign is on. The door is open. I walk in. It looks great. As nice an AMP as I have seen. Like a small version of Swan Lake type vibe. Clean and professional looking. Very new... modern... professionally done... or renovated... or whatever it is. It smells new. There is a big Maneki-Neko / Zhāo cái māo /招财猫 swinging away on top of the front counter... and General Guan Yu 關羽 is up on his shelf behind the counter... watching over things... so this is obviously a Chinese/Hong Kong-type shop.
No one there. Like.... no one... at all.
Seriously... a few minutes go by. I walk around the waiting area. I don't hear anything. I little alarm went off when I opened the door, but no one came out.
They have... I think 3... big massage chairs in the front... like the kind you see for foot massage in Thailand in the front of the shop.... and a TV across from that.
Hallways lead to rooms on both the left and the right.
I decide... "O.k., I guess I will leave. Let's try calling out first." Then I actually hear a Chinese woman's voice... seemingly talking on the phone. I call out... "Hello... anyone here?"
She comes out... a 65 year old (or thereabouts) Chinese woman in a baseball cap.... "Oh sorry... no available... I decorating... you come back later..."
That was more than enough for me... "O.k., no problem. Bye."
I decide to drive to New Star (a couple minutes away). Now my phone goes off with a reply text:

So.... 7451 Shaw Ave. Chilliwack.... that is the place in that crummy old 3-story apartment building in Sardis... that has been around for years. I went there once and it was kinda..... uhhhhh.... I think I will stick with Vancouver/Burnaby/Richmond from now on.
Are they expanding their operation into Burnaby now? I believe the same group is in Abbotsford as well.
A side note about New Star:
So... I still want to do something... as I got myself into that "headspace." I park over by New Star and go in. Annie is happy to see me as always. But this time she asks me to walk into the room behind her little front counter.
I was mentioning in one of my New Star reviews that the line-up girls seem to come from two different directions some of the time. This is why. They come out of the girls "bull pen" (with the curtain) and from this little room (as it has a couch to sleep on). Annie says it will just be a "couple minutes"... and she will have a room for me. "Have a seat. Do you want water?"
I stand there for awhile... look at all the stuff on the walls... all the Chinese trinkets.... about 5 minutes go by.... fuck... how busy is this place right now. No rooms at all?
Then the other Mamasan... who looks like a small version of the current Japanese Prime Minister (
) ... who I have never seen before... comes into the room....."Have a seat. Do you want water?" .... I am thinking.... ugh... no. I don't want this at all. I want to see a line-up... or leave. I don't say a word other than, "No. I'm fine."
Then she says.... "It will just be about 10 minutes," as she looks at her watch and then goes to the front counter and starts flipping through the book.
I sit down on the chair.... for about 10 seconds.... and it hits me. Nope. I'm done.
I walk out the door of the little room and toward the front door. "I don't want to wait. Thanks. Bye." and I walk out.
Maybe a bit harsh but... Annie said a "couple minutes," and then 5 minutes later is was.... "about 10 minutes," and that is going to be a "show-stopper" for me about 99% of the time.
My rule... increasingly... is "I do not reward bullshit with money." Lots and lots of prostitutes working in this city folks.... Hell... there are now 4 shops along Hastings between the Highway and a block East of Willingdon.
So.... my playtime fund is still very full..... I will HOPEFULLY have some kind of review to share with you guys soon.
I am also planning to do something different (and a lot more expensive) with a Japanese agency girl and filming very soon... so throwing away more money on whatever New Star lady wasn't already picked during rush hour.... maybe not. I'll try again some other time.
