Did my research. Texted mid evening a well reputed and reviewed lady looking for a next day time. Good posts on LL and Tryst. Response next morning well written, agreed to time.
All her postings say need deposit. I don't have a problem with that. She didn't ask for it but I like to show that I read the post, not just look at pictures. Our date was 4 hours away and I'm busy beforehand so to avoid the ATM trip,
I offered e-transfer. She provided email address. Noticed it didn't match the posting. Assumed she had a distinct on linked to her bank, sent the transfer.
She confirmed receipt, said "sending location" "Thank you". Location didn't arrive. Sent a request, got in car, can't check texts driving.
Hour before appointment, still no location. Texted again. No reply. Phoned the #. "This number has been cancelled."
Checked the # back to the Tryst link. Last 2 digits different. Assumed I'd mistyped and unluckily sent to a real, crooked #.
On reflection, I'm wondering if someone hacked the sp's post, changed the #? Seemed too unlikely to be pure accident. Email address for transfer was sent immediately on request, so must have been set up before. Used sp's name as part of it.
Lots of points where I should have clued in. From now on, I'll double check #'s before texting.
I'm absolutely convinced the sp I was seeking had nothing to do with this. I'll be seeing her soon, once my bank account recovers. At least it was a half hour appointment.

As more and more ladies request deposits, more and better scammers will move in. In the end, it will hurt the SPs.

Guys don't have to be crazy to send strangers money and banking information, but it helps.

This is a very bizarre story. Are you certain the sp you were trying to see had nothing to do with this? Did you tell her about this? If so, what was her response?

Are these numbers app numbers? It only takes a few moments to change an app number.

It wouldn't be difficult for me to place a LL ad impersonating any "well reviewed" SP and start collecting deposits.

I mean shoot, I wouldn't even have to be a girl, OR very pretty.

This is a benefit of advertisements on PERB. It would be very difficult to get away with impersonating other advertisers here. Imagine 2 Miss Hunters running around the forum? Yikes...

Collecting deposits and legal names of pooners as well-potentially a lot more $ for the latter.

I bet I could find a way to fool a ton of guys. My boobs may be smaller, but my supple legs reach straight to Heaven!

People can edit their sender info. I’m not sure if all banks allow this but some do.

There’s a lot more money to be made in this industry when one WORKS for it, instead of scamming measly deposits

Bizarre, yep. Yes I'm certain. I emailed her published email asking about our missed appointment. She replied quickly, puzzled. Asked for my text # to check, had no previous contact with me. She was angry it happened, traded what little we had to try to figure out what happened.
As I said, she has good reviews, consistently. I'm pretty confident - I intend to see her sometime soon, today if I could but can't.
Can you tell me how to check an app number?

Iristel and Distributel are the 2 main app number providers

Someone could have her email password and is skimming the e-transfers and deleting the emails. GMail isn't exactly super-secure.

Miss Hunter, I was referring to a virtual provider/imposter running scams, not an actual SP. Regarding editing sender information: thank you for the tip, it’s true! I can’t believe I’ve only now tried this on my secondary institution’s mobile app after spending an hour on my primary’s without results. THANK YOU!!!!

Both LL and Tryst will have records of payment and registration for the fraudulent ad. The SP in question should inform the police before she gets charged by someone. It is essentially identity theft.

If she is innocent, you should still inform the perb community who it was so we can watch for other attempts at impersonation. I know alot of times I will just screenshot an ad for future reference rather than have to go searching for it. It would suck if I saved a scammers ad unknowingly!

She scammed you and then changed the number to rinse and repeat and is now stringing you along. Odds are probably one in a thousand that it's anything else.

If you go back for another round and provide another deposit, you are an idiot.

Maybe this deposit nonsense is becoming a revenue stream for SPs on their periods?

Regardless, if someone is going to send money to a complete strangers, you really don't have the right to complain when things turn to shit.

You really think this “scam” is a good revenue stream for SP’s vs their regular business earning potential? It would be very short term don’t you think and no where near as lucrative.

There is definitely potential for scams but I wouldn’t point the finger at well reviewed/known SP’s who are asking for deposits. If you’re sending a deposit to a “newbie”, “TOFTT” type of situation then you deserve what you get!!

As always, do your homework!!
