I am confused about the new laws. I read that they came into affect a few days ago. But all the agency's are still running. Am I breaking the law if I went to one of them?

Look over your shoulder, Brad! Bill C35 targets us, the nasty johns without whom the business is supposed to go away. We are supposed to be the assholes who 'commodify sex'. The poor ladies whom we exploit are thus forced to seek other ways of earning a living if we are fined into poverty or jailed. Harper was paying some debts when this legislation was written, Who know he owed so much to organized crime?

There was an article the other day in T.C discussing this. The VicPD have said they will only target trafficked individuals and underage persons. However, I don't know how the other municipalities will handle this law. Many other municipalities and police forces have said they will ignore the law and only go after underage and trafficked workers. Under the old laws I think a escort agency could have been categorized as a brothel, making it illegal. But, that was obviously ignored by law enforcement. I think it will be business as usual until the bill is struck down by the SCC, but you can never be too careful.

Bill C-35, to the best of my knowledge will make it a crime for the john to pay for a sexual service. It will also be illegal to host advertisements that suggest sexual services. Sexual services is a very broad term, we won't know how it will be defined just yet. There are a few other things that the bill has added, it just escapes my mind at the moment.

There is an excellent thread here that discusses everything C-35
