I'm hearin' ya. I'm nearly always too hot. Had all the medical tests. I radiate heat. Skinny women love hugging me when they come in from the cold ;-)
BTW, I did get a very nice bj this afternoon in an air conditioned spa
I used to advertise air conditioning, but a few gentlemen mentioned that all high rises have it. I'm not sure if that is true or not, but of the 6 high rises in various areas I have lived, that was the case.
My current place also has an amazing cross wind from balcony to balcony - so I always leave the doors open, especially with AC on so that there is always fresh air and negative ions ;-)

used to be that you need air conditioning in Vancouver for about 2 to 3 weeks a year. most struggled with buying AC just for that short time period
these days I would say it is more like 5 to 7 weeks of the year you need AC
the other funny thing about Vancouver is that there is an old city by-law which prohibits the use of those in window type AC units you see everywhere else, one of the reason the apartments downtown look the way they do is that they don't have those ugly boxes in every window. that is why they sell those floor standing models here.
from a more practical side however they should get rid of that by-law now that we are up to 5 to 7 weeks of heat, the by-law came into effect in an era when we really didn't need them
downtown in the summer on a windless night it gets too hot to sleep, the other problem is if you have the windows open it is too noisy to sleep
be nice for us to go to built in AC at some point rather than these portable mobile units however that is a political issue

I think I may have read about shrinkage somewhere, but I always thought it was a myth. I've only seen guys get bigger when I'm around

I READILY ADMIT; I miss the central air conditioning & high ceilings in my Clayton Heights place. HOWEVER: Sleeping up in the Playhouse is delightful and cool back in the trees. Being able to be naked in the shade on the deck with a cool wind is nice too, then inside for a quick cool rinse (60 seconds max) before things get all hot & sweaty again! Right now I only put clothes on if I need to leave the property! Otherwise, it's undies or less!
I go back and forth on getting AC for my condo. I think it's needed this summer though.

Yep, the air is less humid. I thought the noise would be annoying but it puts me right out, it drowns out traffic and everything else.
The problem with the portable ones like I have is they have to be close to a window so the plastic piece can blow out the hot air ( or I think that's why ) but it's way cooler with it that's for sure.
The place with the best return policy is Costco - they take anything back. No packaging - no receipt. I knew someone who's child broke a flat screen tv purchased over a year earlier. Not only did they take it back - they gave them an upgrade !

$500 bucks at Walmarti have one from walmart...it was $500 bux, one of the "cheap" kinds...it only works in 1 room, the living/kitchen area...my area and upstairs is left behind, but i'd rather be in the place where theres entertainment and melt lol
. Seems pricey. You could have had a much better one, 14,000 btu for much less at Costco. That size covers quite a large area.

I have one of the floor models for the lower level of my condo. Uberhaus, which I got from Rona. It is great, but you still have to vent it. Measured out the hose and cut a hole through the wall, it was pretty simple. You can get faceplates to cover the hole in the winter. These things are pretty powerful and can on occasion trip the breaker if you are running too many other electrical items, but otherwise I am so thankful I got it. Around 12 amp output. First few years I owned the place, I had to go up to the one bedroom where I have a window AC to seek refuge and watch TV there, as even with blinds and an awning on the deck out back the sun just scorches through the living and dining room from 6 pm to sunset during the hot periods.
