I'm not sure what to do. I went to visit one of my favs today and she told me that there were some bad guys extorting her. She showed me a text that said something like "Give me $5000/month or we will come and shut down your business". She's had 3 of these texts so far and is getting scared. She also said that this has happened to her friend who is just starting out, and another micro that she is aware of. For now, she's going to stop advertising and just stick with regulars, but for her friend who is just starting... I don't think that this is common here in Vancouver, but I don't really know.
She's doesn't speak English well, nor does her friend, so these guys may be targeting independent Asian SPs. Also, I think she may not be legally allowed to work in the country, but regardless is afraid to go to the police. I'm sure the number they are using is a burner, but who knows, and I don't know if I should post it here or not. I'm wouldn't be surprised that they found her number and her friends on LL.
