My current roommate is taking off a on a world bike tour, leaving me with his half of the rent to cover for almost a year, so I'm looking for a new roommate.

My question is...where does one advertise a room for rent? Nobody checks the newspapers anymore these days and I dunno if i wanna pay money to advertise for a spot.

I currently went to www.ca.roommates.com, other than that...does anyone know of other sites or publications one can look or post for a roommate?

You could try Craigslist.
Or if you live near a college or university, they always have roomie postings and housing registries for students.

I know a number of Vancouver escorts use free sites like Kiiji, and Craigslist. They have listings for roommates and shared rentals as well.

Many papers also offer free classifieds for listings which aren't geared to earning income.

I would imagine posting on bullitain boards may also yield some results. It really depends on the kind of roommate you are looking for.

If you don't mind somebody younger, you could try posting on the university and college bullitain boards - or if you want somebody who is a bit older, but established in the area (so they don't leave after two months) you could try the gym or even churches etc. if you fit that demographic.
