I'm surprised he banned himself. I'm just as surprised you Mods didn't ban him for his constant insults to me, including one where I got called "Fuckface". If I tried that, I would have been banned. In fact, I got banned for a much lesser offense which did not even include name calling.

Perhaps that was his way of "going out on his own terms." Perhaps he knew he was going to be banned and requested it to make it look like he was doing it on his own terms.

I for one still don't quite get the self bannings. I think there is more to it than just the lack of self control theory somebody mentioned. I honestly think some people who have requested to be banned did so to purge themselves of their "persona and reputation" so they could come back in as a completely new persona and start over.

About 4 months ago, I chose to ban myself from all of the casinos in bc. Ok, I know its not exactly the same thing...but some didn't understand why I couldn't just use my own will power and "not go". For me it wasn't even necessarily the money that I was losing that made me sign up for their self exclusion program...I'm a night owl so for me it was more the mere fact that they are open 24 hours. Haha...now when I'm bored and up in the wee hours of the night, I just go to tim hortons and have coffee. Saving my pocket book a ton of money. English Toffee's are $3 vs. the hundreds I was pulling out everynight!!!

Casinos and PERB are 2 diff. things... Casinos take your money and ruin lives... PERB simply takes your time...Besides, banning yourself just means u can't post... u can still read.

All I have to say is that IMHO, NECKO should have been banned a long time ago by mod rather than at his own request. He was abusive to many people, on many occasions. In the case of Eyelash, it was totally unwarranted. I chose to stand up to NECKO, so I guess I deserved his childish bashing, guys like Eyelash did not.

NECKO's posts were hit and miss. Sometimes he was human, and at other times, he suffered from Terrets. Take that for what it's worth.

When a mod gets a request to ban a handle from that person, we usually don't ask why, just do the deed and move on. Some have gotten a GF and want to put their pooning behind them, some have been caught and need to cover their tracks, others still are just moving on. In the end, if they asked to be banned and got their wish, does it really matter?

Of all the people on perb who might benefit from some anger management therapy, Necko would be right at the top of the list. He offended me a few times, but then publicly apologized to me.

He is not ALL bad.

We could get philosophical here. Nietzsche pointed out that pure evil (evil for the sake of evil) and pure good (good for the sake of good) do not exist. There is always "some" good in everyone and "some" evil in everyone.

I think this site tends to bring out our sleazy side and that is more closely linked to our penchant for evil. I know I like to act like a slut on here, but my evil is more directed at myself.
