Who's it gonna be for what?
Daytona is over and the season just started to think about a championship.
I hear this is Rusty Wallace's last year at Nascar.
Although Jeff Gordon won Daytona, I don't think he'll do well this year. He lost alot of good people in that plane crash last November.
My favorites:
Jeff Gordon
Casey Kane
Michael Waltrip (good ol boy)
Jimie Johnson

I heard Toyota was gonna run? Do they have a car in yet??

I really lost interest in Nascar when Dale Earnhardt bought it. Haven't really watched it since. IMO Speed channel OD's on Nascar.

Toyota is only running in the Nascar Craftsman Truck series. I heard talk about getting into the cars but I don't know where that stands.

I missed plenty of races last year but this year I turned down several invites to hit the bars just so I could sit back and watch the 500 with a six pack in hand.

Yes it is Rustys last year as well as Mark Martin but least Mark is partial owner of Kurt Busch, and rumor has it Martin has full option of taking over full ownership if he pleases.

Perennial favorites are the Roush and DEI cars for me.

Toyota is scheduled to introduce its Corolla-based entry next year in the Cup series. Should be interesting - the Toyota entries in the truck series are doing really well.

As for preferences for this year, I'm firmly in the "anyone but Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson" stable. I have a thing against people who win too much... give me an underdog any time. At Daytona, I was cheering for Michael Waltrip and Kenny Wallace - the guys with real personalities. For the year, I think Greg Biffle is going to be one to watch, along with Kasey Kahne... Junior, of course, will be strong if DEI can get their engines together, and the sentimental favourites are guys like Kyle Petty and his team (they have new engines this year and were strong at Daytona, except for the wrecks) and Rusty Wallace.

I'm thinking it's gonna be a great year, from where I sit.

(yeah, I'm a big racing fan. If it has four wheels and turns, I probably like it. *grin* )

You don't like anyone who wins to much. Yet you were cheering for MW to win this years Daytona 500.

And who won the last two Daytona 500s previous to this one? t-fox is that a contradiction? Or you meant..............

I do agree with the personality of MW and KW. I think MW should jump into film. He would do real great as a comedic actor. IMHO

And for those of you who are heart broken that Rusty Wallace is retiring. Who cares? Its time for the young guns to take over, and bring it to the next level. Those dinosaurs had their day. --- Kev

Well, he didn't win last year - Junior did. But he gets his butt handed to him in most other races... I hope he can turn in some good performances at non-plate tracks this year. That's what I meant.

Time flys by when you are racing.
Michael Waltrip won the 2003 Daytona 500 (2nd win) with teamate Dale Earnhardt finishing in 36th spot.

Pleeeease do not attempt to equate Formula One with any kind of motorsports. F-1 is the biggest joke going, thank god they are finally well on the way to pricing themselves out of existence.
I agree with you on how over priced the F1 series has become. (Budget of 100 million per car, per year) But the series is the supremacy of motorsport racing. No other racing series comes close to the technical demands placed on the cars. The formula 1 cars are some of the most highly stressed pieces of machinery on the planet.

I can watch the odd NHRA event but being an ex Formula racer I could never understand why a driver would setttle for the money (spent) to seat (time) ratio.

just curious where the appeal is in watching that??
They are waiting for the crashes.

If you put "nascar crashes" into Google you get 88.600 hits.
BTW, the driver walked away from that one.

Like any sport when ya don't know what its all about it seems so simple. Only when you do the research do you realize.................shit turning left can be a tad bit complicated.

Like the picture above shows. --- Kev
