If you have been trying to phone to no avail, this is why.

I have full email access, and hope to find a phone this weekend w/o getting back into a contract.......;)

Any recommendations? I like Blackberries, but am looking at the Androids also.

Freyja,
How long had you had your other phone and/or how long have you been with your wireless carrier?
You may have built up enough "credit" to qualify for a hardware upgrade, ie: get a new phone for little or nothing.
But, I guess that may also come with signing up for another 3 years on whatever your existing contact might be.

The choice between Blackberry, Iphone, or Android based phones would be entirely up to what you need as far as a phone.
I used to have a BB, but switched to an Android based about a year ago. Love the Android. Lots of Apps (I guess fewer than the Iphone) but alot more free apps on the Android, and not just crappy apps either. Some useful stuff that's free on Android that cost money on Iphone and Blackberry.

Hope this helps solve your problem. Good Luck

If you can hold out wait till the Samsung Galaxy S II hits in the next couple of months, otherwise the iPhone 4 is always there.

I would avoid Blackberry until later this year when the 9900 and Torch 2 come out.

Thanks everyone for input!!

I'm actually seeking a 4G HTC Desire. I have a good Telus month to month plan such that I'd prefer to get something compatible. The Samsung looks awesome! Great phones are on the way....sucks that my phone didn't hold on for a month or so more.
Another choice is the HTC Sensation from Virgin Mobile, but you'll need to buy a mirco sd card as there is only 1GB internal memory.

Ohhhhh....I like all of these options to buy a cheaper or used phone. Though, I don't want to commit to a 3G phone or contract when 4G is already here.
Miss Freyja, if you like blackberry, I see that Virgin Mobile is offering the Blackberry Pearl 3G for $150 with no contract
