Any of you guys or gals into muscle car horsepower drag racing style?

If you want a cheap night out go to Mission Raceway for this coming Friday night July the 8th street legal drags.
Spectators are only five bucks to get in and kids under 15 are free
this also includes your pitt pass as well to wander through and look
at all the great machines.

There is sport compact for the import fans and domestic and outlaw classes
which are mostly made up of (you guessed it)...domestic cars usually
from the muscle car era but there are all kinds. Some of these street legal
cars will run well into the nine second margin.
And for the two wheel fans motorcycles !!

Gates open at 5 and racing usually gets under way at around 6.
Racing goes on until around 10 o'clock sometimes later.

Hope this gives you people out there another option for somethin'
to do on a Friday night..........LIGHT 'EM UP !!!!!!!!

P.S. If you want to race your car it costs 25 bucks and you take
your car through tech to be approved for racing......thats it !!

Injection is nice but I'd rather be Blown

Last time I was at the Friday Street Drags, I saw a Dodge club-cab turbo-diesel with a kid-seat in the back heading down the track.... I think it was a thirteen second run. I guess anything goes on Friday nights.

QM...I have not been to Mission in a while....drag racing is a great motor sport and fun to watch. I need to get out there this year and attend one of their races.

I have raced on the old Mission track, it was in the area that is across the highway from the track in the industrial park. In fact a few years back, you could still see some parts of the old track.

Schedule for racing

Do they run every Friday night? Any special rules for motorcycles?
El Diablo
Hi El Diablo;

Here's the schedule for friday night drags:
July 8,
August 12,19,26
Sept 2,23,30
Oct 7
You can also pick up a schedule at most performance auto parts stores,
Lordco, T&T etc. for a complete list of other races and events.

For motorcycles an up to date helmet being a snell95 your riding leathers,
or at least a leather jacket and you have to have a lanyard cord, a cord attached to the kill switch somewhere on the handle bars in case of a spill.
Oh yes you're vehicle must be insured be it motorcycle or car even a permit on it is good too. You must also have a valid drivers license.

For cars if you think you're car will run in the thirteens or faster you MUST
have a snell 95 helmet as well.
If you're tires look worn to the point of tossing them they won't let you race
with that.
One of my favorite events is on July 30/31 the Langley loafers car club
Old time drags. Only vehicles Pre 1970 are allowed to race.
Some super cool vehicles there on that date and very fast !!!!

Hey BB;
Ya pretty much anything goes like they say run what ya brung !!
That Dodge diesel cab is amazing what a smoke show from the exhaust
pipe hey !
There's another one that shows up there with an exhaust pipe straight
up from the middle at the back of the cab it ran in the mid twelves.
When that thing takes off you swear between the sound of the giant
turbo and the smoke coming from the stack that a 747 was taking off !!

Welcome fellow drag racer !!
That old industrial park is now gone and its the Junction Mall with theatre
and Extra foods and a whole bunch of eatery places.
Quite convenient if you want to grab a bite outside the track they have
Boston Pizza, Quizno's a bar and grill place a liqour store,(don't get caught
with booze at the track or any type of drugs, you will be escorted out
pronto !!)
I've been racing at Mission since '97 and still enjoy the hobby its a real
blast.
Oh yah the EYE CANDY can be something as well and I don't mean Cars !!! :D
Hope you can get out there for one of the events its a lot of fun.

Howdy Hitrack;

Ya thats the one draw back there isn't really any shade and on a hot day
you're gonna friggin cook for sure.
Bring a cooler with lots of water or soft drinks and don't forget the sunscreen.

This year so far its been not bad with the iffy weather its quite tolerable.

On those scorcher days I can't race my car it sits in the sun in the pits and bakes like a clam has a black interior and with a helmet on and engine heat coming through the firewall holy f**k you roast like hell.

Yup good place to get some use outta the vid cam and not just
for the racing !! :D

Hey Hitrack I haven't yet got into the techno camera stuff but one day,
my computer skills are quite limited to say the least, I wish I could post
some chicks gorgeous butts for the time being I will have to leave that
to the one's with the computer savy !!
If you get out there take us some great shots and post them for us
would ya ??
There is a website, www.horsepowerheaven.com which posts
all the northwest local drag racing scene with great shots (except chicks butts, damn!) of cars at the friday night street legal drags.

Win every event that you enter !! :D
This friday it sounds like mother nature is going to pee on our parade,
figures !!!!

Also there was going to be what they call King of the Hill (bracket racing)
Where you dial in the time of your last run on the window of the car so
that the computer control start at the christmas tree lets the slower car
leave first. This way a faster car....say 10 second bracket gets to race a
slower car like in the 13's.
It gives both cars a chance at winning usually where you win or lose in
this situation is your (reaction time) How fast you get off the line without
red lighting.

Last fall they tried this king of the hill for the first time. You paid an extra
five bucks and 32 cars got to enter this special event which I am glad
to hear will be continued this year with four events.

First prize was 200 bucks and second was 100 bucks.
Out of 32 cars I made it into the top 8 but got beat by 5 one thousands
of a second at the finish line.........what a drag race that was !!

The guy beat me at the start line by .100 of a second difference in the
reaction time so I lost the race right at the starting line......
That's racing !!!
Great fun it is and you get to meet a lot of great people.

QM'r,

Hi LG;

The majority of the bikes that show up are the high performance Japanese type. There also sometimes are the middle of the road performance kind
as well.
With the King of the Hill bracket racing which has only been held
once last fall I suppose if a rider wanted to enter this he would be
put up against a car but normally the bikes run in there own class
at the track.

hope this helps
