I consider myself to be a very positive person, almost polyanna sometimes, and I really need to give myself a kick in the pants when I get too positive. However, when it comes to this Murphy guy, his law can sure bite me!

For example, it's been a quiet morning. I've posted and the phone isn't ringing. So I decide to head out and do some errands. It's almost a 9/10 certainty that, as soon as I drive off, the phone will ring, and I'll have to make a U-turn and head back home.

Alternatively, it's been a quiet morning. I've posted and the phone isn't ringing. I decide to hang tough and not go anywhere. My friend calls, and I tell her, no, I'm working on something and can't go anywhere. I stay home all day and nothing happens.

So I decide to cook dinner, and I smell up my place with the delicious aromas of chicken and garlic. Not exactly sexy but you know... I enjoy a delicious dinner and a glass of wine and, just when my stomach is at its peak of fullness, my phone rings. Arrrggghhhh! :faint:

Feel free to share your experiences with Mr. Murphy...

I guess Im different,

In that I have had a very shitty childhood youth.

I kind of just expect everything to go wrong in my life.
It is funny but the more I want something, the father away it seems.
The more impossible it seems.

At a certain times in my life, I just stopped the struggle.
But guess what happened.

What I wanted so much and graved and struggled for.
When I just don't care anymore.

It seems to be right there. In front of me.

Strange how that works,

Sounds like you need to deke out old Mr. Murphy and flip the odds in your favour.

Want your phone to ring? Post your ad and deliberately set off to do some errands. Now the odds are in your favour with a 90% chance you'll get a call!

Are you kidding? That's about as mouth-watering as it gets. mmm... garlic chicken.

The thing about old Murphy is that we often don't register it when we've actually dodged him. But I hear you. I didn't bring a heavier jacket to Paris... and it snowed (then again, it was an excuse to buy a something there). Yes. I step outside for a few minutes and leave all my devices in the house... and they all have messages... stupid Murphy.

I know but he's a sneaky bugger! That's when I'll get a call from someone who is looking for short notice...like 'can I be there in 30 minutes'? And I just drove off!

Uh-huh, that's the same guy I'm quite familiar with!

Almost always happens....
Wake up to the sunshine looks great head out for the day in summer clothes and it rains.

or

Looking cold out no sun at all and you head out doors all bundled up warm and what happens it gets warm and sunny.

Waking out the door or deciding to eat, always gets the phone ringing. Or you are not available and then the calls roll in.
You get it too, dear lady!

I really appreciate your contribution and I'm pretty much following you! I try really hard to listen to that little voice. For example, I used to tell myself, 'Remember to do blah-blah-blah later.' Well, I've now trained myself to write it down, that's what sticky notes are for. Don't just leave it up to my faulty memory! I put the sticky right on the door so that I see it when I'm headed out!

As for the car veering into my lane, that's just good instincts and peripheral vision!

This is actually a really good idea for almost everyone. The human brain is generally terrible at remembering things like tasks and it requires a lot of effort to keep a list of them fresh in your memory. Writing it down and then looking at your task list later frees your mind up to do more important things than trying to remember a what you need to do today/this week/etc.

HA! My friend and I were laughing about this the other night. I got a nice, fancy, expensive case for my Galaxy. Well, when it dropped on the floor, it hit the 1/8" of the bottom of the phone that was NOT covered by the case. Not only did it crack the screen but it broke the LED too. Useless now. Murphy's Law.

Sticky notes don't work for me. After a while I just get used to the idea of sticky notes being there and fail to take notice of them.

Same thing with so-called "personal organizer" software on the computer. It's all very well to set up the reminders, but after a while I start ignoring them.

I just have to remember to do stuff. I remember about 95 % of the things I'm supposed to do, but dang, that other 5% is what gets me in trouble.

People still use stickies!?!? :p

If I write anything down on a sticky I then take a picture of it with my phone, then the image is in my gallery. Or I use the notepad app on my phone. OR i just set a calendar task WITH a reminder on my phone. I never miss those!

You know, if it's a task with a date and time, of course I'll put it in my phone with an alert. That's easy. But there are things that system just won't work for. For example, how many times have I left my lunch in the fridge, and drove off without it?

Or the water bottle...again, left in the fridge!
