was riding the tram from the airport to the rental car depot tonight with the usual 1000 foot gaze and not really paying attention to anything in particular when I happened to take a look at the emergency exit/fire extinguisher sign......there was the normal "in case of emergency pull this, point that, blah blah blah" and then they repeated the message in braille

WHAT THE FUCK?

I realize that it makes perfect sense to have braille messages on all sorts of things like elevator buttons, hotel room signs, etc but instructions for a fire extinguisher??? Whats a blind person supposed to do, feel around for the fire?

Craziness

Even more ridiculous, in my opinion is...

nicely played and you're right, why?

maybe its for those pylons who go through the drive through but then when at the machine get out of the car to make their withdrawl/deposit/payment

hardly reeediculous at all - the examples mentioned, obviously, aren't intended for totally blind persons... they are intended for the (legally) blind who have difficulty with depth perception, contrast sensitivity and glare - termed "Low Partial" blindness... and yes, in some cases, you can drive with this condition.

The ATM's are all made with the Braille on the keypad, so why make special keypads for drive throughs? As for stopping and getting out at the drive through, I had to do that once because my Corvette was so low I couldn't reach the keys.

I'm in a similar situation, except my truck is too high to reach the keys.

At least half the drivers in Vancouver are driving with that condition...
