We have the "I know a guy" thread, but instead of a 3rd party, who have you personally met, or even seen that is famous. Could be multiple people if you met more than 1.

I briefly met Jeremy Clarkson, shook his hand, told him that yes I am a fan, he was very kind, and thanked me for watching Top Gear. I find him funny, but am a car guy.

Got talking to a lady in a line up many years ago, took me a while, finally clued in who it was, and she knew I had figured it out despite the toque, glasses, and such. She smiled and put her finger to her lips to silence me. Despite being winter, I was dressed warmly so chose to sit outside and eat, so as not to sweat. Once she had her food, joined me at my table, and said thanks for not blurting out her name. We ate together before parting ways, it was LeAnn Rimes, who headed off somewhere, and I returned to skiing. Stars can be down to earth people.

That’s cool.

I met Jim Jefferies when he was here last, spotted him out back before the show. His security motioned for my friends and I to come over and he took a photo with us. Funny bastard... 😛

Robin Williams in Port Alberni when he was filming a movie there. I yelled at him" HEY MORK FROM ORK" , he said " Ooooooo, that's an old one!" Then he waved at me with a big smile. I also met Robert Clothier ( Relick from Beach combers) in west Van Woodwards when I was little, very nice man, he waved at me and said hi.

My grandmother worked with Alan Thicke waaaaay back in the day, when he had a variety show on CTV in the late-70s. Even during his time on "Growing Pains", they were still close, writing letters to each other, keeping in contact. When I was 14yrs old, I went on a big family trip down to Disneyland; me, my siblings, parents, grandparents and uncle and a couple of cousins, big group. My grandmother told this to Alan Thicke, and he asked her to make a side trip to Burbank to visit him as he worked on his show. Even though the whole family was thrilled with the connection, we all knew not everyone should to go; but I asked to come along with one of my cousins. So just we three went....

...I remember it being fun seeing how it they make a TV show, but only at first. Everyone was busy working on the set, couldn't move around to check things out, I was getting in the way, so I picked a spot on the wall and stood there. I saw the show a few times before, managed to pick out a few people I recognized; Tracey Gold, and Kirk Cameron. Never spoke to them, just saw them in the crowd. I was getting kind of bored, but my grandma was excited seeing her friend again..... Until this other teenager came up to me, said hi and asked if I was there to be in the show. I said I wasn't, told him who I was with, my story and all, "from Vancouver", family trip, "grandmother is friends with Alan Thicke",...seems facisnated that a random Canadian was on the set for no real reason.... so I directed the conversation back to him, why he was there and all. .....long and short of it all, it was Leonardo DiCaprio, and he was starting to film his second appearance on the show. Of course before he hit it big, so I didn't think much of who I was talking to, other than he was going to be in the show, and that was 'cool' enough as it was....

John Travolta. Eaton's Park Royal 1986. Walking through the furniture department one weekday afternoon. Heading towards each other. Couldn't remember his name. I asked "are you who I think you are?" He said "Yea. I'm him." Then he stuck his hand out and we both said "nice to meet you" and went our way.

I saw Dr Oz at the NBC studios in NY. Seemed like a nice guy, stopped to talk with us briefly. Paul Newman was at the Indy Car races in Edmonton some years back. I didn’t see him but the person I was with did. Saw George W Bush at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale. He went by me in an SUV when he was leaving.

Was a consultant for several TV series filming here in the 90's (X-Files, Millennium, the Sentinel, a few others). Was called the Gack Man by the various props guys. Gack being the term used in the scripting when it was something techie and they knew they needed advice, so in that process I met most of the cast, and directors and had a lot of my recommended equipment on every double episode of the X-Files. Best in that mix though, was when I was delivering a box of geiger counters to the Millennium set at the Connaught Studios on the North Shore and I backed through a door wherein my left elbow and arm connected and pressed into the right breast of Jerri Ryan. Yes, she of 7 of 9 fame. And I can tell you that suit she wore had NO padding. I must have looked shocked - like yeah! - as she asked me where I was going. Told her Millennium, she said I'm going that way too so she turned me around and walked me onto the set. Chatted about her role as a female Sentinel, Vancouver, etc. First time in my life I was totally star struck. She is an absolute stunner, beyond any rating I could come up with, and a real sweet woman. Sure made my month.

Next one was if I recall around 2001/02, I was in Montreal Mirabel airport heading home from a business trip. Had an Air Canada lounge pass and was up at the self serve bar mixing myself a bloody mary when this deep resonant voice said "sir may I reach that mix?" and I turned around to stand literally face to face with Brian Mulroney. He was as impeccably groomed as anyone I had ever seen, I mean his suit had to have been worth 1000's. A lot of stuff was going through my head one of the paramount ones was "you fucker - you lied about the GST" but I think I just said something like "of course Mr Prime Minister and commented about that wonderful suit.

I was working part-time at a golf shop when Kurt Russell came in one day wanting to buy a full set of clubs for Goldie Hawn (she didn't come). I played it cool for the whole afternoon with him while he chose what he wanted to get for her and didn't ask for his autograph until the end after I helped him put the clubs in his Range Rover. I told him that my brother's favourite movie is Big Trouble in Little China where he chuckled and said my brother had a strange sense of humour :ROFLMAO:
