ok I'm sure I'll get some heat for this but .....oh well....It's good to sign him...better than Cloutier but he is one example of the problem with the pay structure....he's a product of his linemates....Vancouver as a team needs to wake up. They have never been a great judge of talent.....example.....have you seen their drafting lately???? They will never be topflite till they dip into the free agent market....cause they have nuthin on the farm. A one line team wins nuthin!!!

Oh I know they had to sign him but it's an example of a player who maybe isn't worth it but a distorted market makes him worth it....if that makes sence.......Kinda like Bernie Nicholls when he had Gretzky.....when that came to an end you never heard of him again

Brendan Morrison is an awesome hockey player, and it doesn't matter whos line hes on hes going to rack up alot points. Any club in the NHL would love to have him. --- Kev

Your right lots of teams maybe all teams would like to have him.....but not at 3.5 mill/yr necessarily and I doubt he would be on the first line. He's a good player but not 3.5 mill worth......but ya know it's management and ownership that is the problem.....they throw money at players that shouldn't be getting it.....what are they suppose to say ....NO,2 mill is fine....not likely I hope when they try to hammer out the new CBA that ownership remembers that it's not just greedy players it's owners with big bank books tryin to buy the cup too.

I find it amusing when people say that Morrison is a "product of his linemates" and imply that he is riding the coattails of Bertuzzi and Naslund. Last season, he was arguably the Canucks' best player in the final 15 games and in the playoffs - all while Bertuzzi was suspended and Naslund struggled. Playing with a "prima donna" like Bertuzzi cannot be easy. There must be many moments where he steps back and lets him have his spotlight. But, when the spotlight was on him last season, he shone.

You never hear him whine or complain, he just plays hard and battles. In relation to other NHL salaries, I have no problem with him making 3.5 mill.

I think people that say he is the product of their line mates are not very educated on the sport.

I think its also a stupid comment to be blunt.

Would you say that Adam Oates was a product of Hull, Neely.. or Comrie of Smyth and Carter ..

Naslund is an elite player.. Bertuzzi is an elite player.. Morrison may not be in the top 5 centres in the league.. but 10 yea sure. .

At 3.5 Salary .. is more than fair ..

PS Bernie Nicholls had almost 500 goals .. on 6 teams.. Wayne only played with him for a short stint...

also Check your ice time logs..

Gretz played more minutes with Sandstrom and Granato than he did with Nicholls.. .
