Montreal hotel

I've stayed at several hotels in Montreal, but one of my favourites is the Hotel du Fort. It's a 4 star, smaller European boutique style hotel. I've had some really nice and large suites with high-speed internet and a huge desk (unusual in hotels but essential for me) for no more than a regular room at the Queen Elizabeth, Sheraton, etc... and a nicer than the Hyatt.
It's located on Fort and St. Catherines, easy walking distance to the Crescent - and strip clubs along St. Catherines if you're so inclined. You can easily find it on the internet by searching "Hotel du Fort Montreal" on the internet. The rooms were actually quite reasonable. Also seemed to be "guest friendly"
Only downside is that it's a little ways from the touristy "Old Montreal" area - but that can be cured with a $10 cab ride.

I was there 3 weeks ago. All of the 4 star hotels are within walking distance from eachother in downtown Montreal between St Laurant and Guy. They're all pretty decent, so why bother paying the full price (average 200 - 400 per night) when you can get the same room for half price. Bid on www.priceline.com, for a 4 star hotel and say bid $75 and see if you get any takers! I got the Hotel Interconental for 3 nights for $72.

But this year it was different. One could use a Canadian Card with provinces and postal codes. I guess they just started to accept Canadian users
Well there is a trick to that. In place of an american zip code you just type in 99999 and in place of state you type in CA. You still get charged the American rate but your Canadian card is good.Avery said:
