Milbury is total garbage. How this jerk has a job on Hockey Night in Canada is a mystery. I thought you had to be at the top of your game to get on HNIC. Just another loud mouth stupid American than doesn't know squat about hockey.

Couldn't cut it as a player, Coach, or General Manager and certainly doing a shitty job as a commentator. I am sending CBC a letter demanding they get his loser ass off the air. This is the same scum who said Chara did nothing wrong in almost killing that Montreal player last year.

Remember this is the same guy who not only beat a fan with a shoe once but was charged this year for assaulting a 10 year old in a minor hockey game.

Crosby cheap shoted the Flyer first and got the same thing back.

Didn't see the game so I can't comment on any "cheap shots" but even if he did, I never heard Crosby whine or complain about it. Crosby has never "whined" about any of the hits or tactics he's been subjected to. In fact here's what Crosby said,
Crosby said he's "not a gentleman on the ice at times" but added he's usually retaliating. He had no major issue with Schenn's hit, saying "that's not out of the blue.
He understands that hockey is a tough game and you have to make room for yourself. At times that means doing something illegal just to let the other players know your gonna take care of your business. One of the dirtiest little SOB's to ever play was Theoren Fleury and I remember him playing as a kid in Russell, Manitoba. He was hated by the other teams and fans because he'd be the first one to hand out a good crosscheck across the neck or 2 hander across the back of your calf. But most of the other kids, even the big kids, left him alone and he went on to be a great player because he had room to manouver.
So even if Crosby did "cheap shot" Schenn first, that's the nature of hockey and what you do occasionally to show your not going to get pushed around and all the palyers understand that.

Milbury is just a poor man's Don Cherry without the xenophobia, IMO.

Every team has dirty players. If people are fans of the team, then these players are "playing on the edge" or "playing with spice". If they are the opposition team, they are dirty rotten scum.

If they don't play dirty, they are villified as "soft", unless they are of the same nationality as the fan. EG, if it is a Canadian fan, Then they are "good Canadian kids", and "boys will be boys".

It all goes back to the saying "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'", and "it's only a penalty if you get caught".

The only way to survive in the NHL is to play dirty and hit back, or even before someone does it to you. It's a game of intimidation, rather than hockey skills, especially at this time of year.

I heard today on TSN an excerpt from an interview with Flyers asst. coach Craig Berube. In it he goes on about how Crosby and Malkin are the leagues dirtiest players and whine all the time, blah, blah, blah. While I can see this as "posturing" for a likely 1st round match up with the Penguins, why is it that all these guys who were marginal players/goons who couldn't carry Crosby or Malkin's jock strap, think they can actually criticize the greatest players in the world? Ever notice that other stars in the league like the Sedins, Stamkos, Brad Richards, Rick Nash, etc. never say these things. It is always the Milbury's and Berube's of the world.
