Agree Trevor Linden should be offered GM job. Guy with NHL level playing experience and savvy. It is working well for Tampa with Yzerman.

Except for the fact that Linden has zero interest in pursuing a life within the NHL. Hes way too busy with selling fitness clubs, contact lenses, and his own real estate interests.

What Vancouver needs, and not just the Canucks, but the city is a GM that will create a young exciting team and who continues to improve that team through the years.

The Canucks were that team back when we first acquired Luongo, but even after the Stanley Cup Finals, they stayed that same team and finally faded away into today's version. We need a GM who will continuously strive to improve the team, replacing older players with new younger players. Take the NFL for example, draft your team.

This so called rebuild shouldn't take 6 to 8 years, but rather a year or two like the Colorado Avalanche. In order to make this happen, we need to work on our scouting and look at improving the farm system. I'm not even sure who our up and coming stars are at this point.

Trevor Linden available for GM??? Can Vancouver ever hate him???

1. Trevor Linden has ZERO front office experience in the NHL! You don't start out as a GM... Look at Steve Yzerman (If only Linden has 1% of his talent)

2. You can't rebuild a team through the draft in 1 to 2 years, improving scouting and the farm system.


Gillis is not just a GM of the Canucks. He is also a business partner with the Aquilini family, so it is much more likely Torts will get canned before Gillis!

Both would require a huge buyout since they both have multiple years left on their contracts.

Translation - Linden doesn't want to day job, but would rather manage his money and ACT like he is a businessman.
