When the shooting happened in Vegas, I watched some documentaries on NetFlick. One was the "Bowling for Columbine" on Guns.
I first saw Micheal Moore when he won an Oscar for this short film. And his terrible speech afterwards about the presidential election in the US . Controversial yes. This speech turned me off to all things Micheal Moore.
Now years later I watched B for C.
I also watched the one where he goes over to "Invade Europe".
In Bowling for Columbine he uses Canada as an example of gun control. He also uses Canada as an example of Universal Medical Care (I thought he was off on his facts on medicare in Canada). In his invade europe film, he uses successful theories developed in the US that he European are using:
1. Treating addition as a disease (ie heroin addiction) not as a crime (Portugal)
2. Murder rehabilitation (sweden)
3. Free University Education
4 Escorts (netherlands)
Love him or hate him, he does raise certain points of view that we as Canadians need discussion on....
On a emotional level we as humans so relate easily to the "eye for an eye" mentality. Do you rise above all that, or crowd the filling corridors of wasted human endeavours....
