Am I crazy for wanting to go?
Tell me that I am
Have being seeing logs of v-logs (is that what they're called?) - Youtube videos of people/couples travelling down to Mexico during the pandemic.
It looks fantastic as always
Blue water, sandy beaches, great food/drink at some of the resorts...
and NOBODY there...

What do we think? Yeah or nay?
EASY for me to self isolate upon my return home as I work from home anyways, so no issues there...

It would be the getting from the Airport in Mexico to the Hotel/Beach that would be my concern.

Doesn’t sound crazy to me. I’m keen to get away for a low key short trip to PV myself but I’m going to wait until the 14 day isolation period is (hopefully) replaced. Not exactly empty there right now but the properties are running at reduced capacity so it should still be noticeable even as more domestic tourists, Europeans and Americans arrive. I say go for it!

Been considering a Cuba trip. Rum, cigars, sun, beach and lovely Chiquita's.
And then pandemic numbers slap me in the face

I wouldn’t take the chance. It is no joke if you get COVID-19 in a developing country. A lot of people who recovered from the virus suffer from after effects. This Covid shit should be under control in a year to 18 months and things will be back to normal.

They have never been able to find a vaccine for the common cold......good luck on COVID

My dentist was telling me that one of his friends from San Diego has been going every few weeks with his bodies for getaways in the last few months . No quarantine required on their return.

Is it safe across Mexico ? Not so sure ...a friend died in Mexico of covid a little while ago. It would a good thing to be aware of the hotspots before booking.

Even flu shots are not 100% effective. If the Covid-19 virus changed its form, then the vaccine will be useless

How serious is the 14 day isolation? Is it written just to scare people into not traveling. You know political BS. Mexico still has a ban on non essential travel to its country by foot but no takes it seriously as it was never enforced, just lip service.

I usually travel each winter to get away from the brutal Manitoba cold and Mexico has always been a favorite destination. The group of couples we travel with have already decided that a winter vacation is a no-go this year as it just isn't worth the risks, especially the air travel component.

The 14 day self isolation coming back into Canada is serious. It's established for a reason and it is enforced. Enforcement aside, anyone who would consider trying to flout it for the sake of a holiday in the sun is just plain selfish and irresponsible.

I'm not saying a person who feels they really need the break shouldn't go for a holiday. Just follow the rules when you come back.

You big sissy! Our winters are no colder than they are in AB, SK or many other places. The coldest winter I ever spent was just after I graduated with my Masters and lived in Edmonton for a year.
Being self employed with people who depend on me for their paycheque, the 14 day self-isolation period, where I could not returm to work, when I returned, excludes me from going anywhere.
That said, my biggest concern would be if I got sick while there. No airline is going to let you on and the Cdn. government has already said that anyone going away shouldn't expect to be rescued by them, like last year. Not sure if I trust the Mexican health care system to look after me if I ended up hospitalized down there.
Cheers

Imagine what your hospital bill would be.
No airline would let you fly back so it would be a long stay.
No insurer would cover you.
