If you walk through the Zona Rosa you will find a lot of touts male and female who will want to take you into a "ladies bar" - meaning strip club. Also known as Taibol. Most of the ones in the Zona Rosa are pretty shady. They will tell you no cover (true) but the price of a beer can be exhorbitantly high, they will tack on bogus taxes and service charges when you get your bill, and have a big gorilla or two there to make sure you pay. Some very good looking girls though, will be trying to separate you from your money, lol.
In the Zona Rosa check out the club Solid Gold (the touts will not take you there as they will not get a commision) - $200 pesos (8 dollars) to get in, about $70 (6 dollars) pesos a beer, about $250 pesos a table dance. If you buy a drink for a dancer as she sits at your table it will be the same price as your own drink, which is not true at the other clubs. It is expensive BUT the staff will not be trying to rip you off as they will in the other clubs. Not open on the weekend as it caters to the local business crowd during the week. It's a well-heeled business crowd. Kind of like the strip clubs here, there is no full service offered (unless you tip really really big).
check out the websites zonadivas.com or mexicobaires.com, quite a lot of Mexican, Venezuelan, Brazilian sp's listed. Will charge about $2500 (200 bucks) pesos for an hour. If you hotel is not guest-friendly they will want to meet you in an hourly hotel, usually located in the area of Revolucion and Patriotismo (2 large avenues). As your spanish improves you may want to buy a local cell phone, or just use your Canadian one to phone these girls up. Most however do not speak English.
Lots of late night Discos around, especially in the area called Polanco (where most of the embassies and embassy staff live, plus a lot of upper middle class Mexicans) and La Condesa. Many of the discos in the Zona Rosa are gay bars, so watch out there.
