Interesting solutions.
I am wondering how much those plastic water containers cost? Here in Canada, a rain barrel costs 120-150 dollars. Just the thought of 150.00 for a plastic barrel, makes me shiver in dread. Why? If we are all for water conservation and stuff and environmental practice, the cost of that barrel should be less than 40.00, cause it take less than 20.00 to make it. Somewhere along the line someone is fleecing the public. The problem is most people don't give a shit, they don't care. How did that happen?

Would you take your pension funds to put up capital to build the factory and sell them at cost? Most likely not....i know i wouldnt.

The system is set up this way, so unless we want socialism or communism the only way yo do this is via public expenditure. Im completely for *scrutinized* public expendutre on such stuff, but too often its in the dark and captured by interests and public sector unions (who dont fight for similar bennies and wages for all that they get)

The point is not to sell at cost. The point is that the price of these things are at over 100% profit margin, and when you politically want people to conserve water, give them materials that are affordable to be able to help the environment. The company should make some profit, but the cost to consumers is outrageous.
Just think about the last time you brought a boxed item, sometimes over half is in packing material (styrofoam- very cheap). Made from hydrocarbons. Very Cheap
A quick search for plastic containers. Made from hydrocarbons.

Plastic is cheap. Why are water containers so expensive then.

If that is uline in Vancouver its because 1) they need extra money to tithe and they want you pay for it and 2) rent seekers - cost to keep these on the shelves would be very high for large quantity because of the cubic volume required. Shipping will also be high because although they're light, you'd be charged on volume again wich is high. All these costs arw passed to us , the consumer.

If you could get them factory direct and shipped to usage site you could halve the price or morw most likley.

As long as they don't run out of Tequila....
Dude…..Tequila is made from a cactus, that grows in arid areas, so not only is it environmentally friendly, the manufacturing doesn’t affect the global aquifer…….just make sure you recycle the bottle and it’ll be all good.
Remember…we should all drink green
Feel better now?
