Methods for accepting payment? (other than pay pal)

Does anyone have any advice on how to accept payment from clients who:

-I don't see in person (so not cash)
-who may or may not have credit cards
-without them knowing my real name

I checked with Western Union/Money Mart and they said I couldn't accept payment without the sender knowing my real name.

Pay pal is strict about not having any 'adult' association and I've been flagged so either can't use it or will continue to have problems with it.

I had a tenant who used to send me rent money through a bank transfer but he used the email address I had that had my real name, so not sure if it would work with a different email address?

This needs to work internationally.

Thanks in advance!

(This is for clients wanting to order DVD's of my movies or have phone/email sessions.)

The bank transfer works with any valid e-mail address. The e-mail doesn't have to include your real name. As long as the e-mail and transfers can be tracked to your business, the tax and banking folks don't care.

I believe the only way to accept reliable online payments without the buyer knowing your real name (and without a 4th party taking a huge percentage) is by registering a new business and opening a bank account under that business name. There are plenty of fly-by-night online payment companies but most I would avoid.

I have used Ikobo (ikobo.com) a few years ago for direct sales, and they have been good but I cant remember whether or not your name is revealed. They set up an offshore account for you and send you an atm card which you can use worldwide. Paypal not only needs the name on your credit card it also needs your bank account info and they have to match... Good luck :)

I wouldn't mess with paypal. They get really cranky about the whole adult thing.

As others mentioned, certapay works well for domestic transfers. You can also have people make deposits into your business account at the bank. You may need to talk to your bank manager to allow for deposits from multiple locations.

The easiest way I can think of to accept payments (be it locally or internationally) is just to set up a business account. It's quick, easy, and all above board.

You can accept wire (SWIFT) transfers from abroad, accept direct deposit locally, and set up a merchant account to accept credit card payments.

Best wishes!

If he's from Canada he can do an Email Money Transfer. All he needs is your email address and you can even make that up if you want.

If you're just doing a one time only thing and are willing to, you could get him to pay you in Amazon.com gift certificates which can be sent to your email address only.

Otherwise you could use paypal by creating a new account and tying it to your savings account and putting in a fake name. Then just make sure you withdraw the funds as soon as he deposits them...at least this way if the account does get frozen you haven't lost your "real" account.

I have an account set up this way and I put a fake name on it, no prob.
