Memory stick and watching movies?

I am tired of downloading movies and burning them to a dvd to watch on tv. So my question is since the memory sticks can hold a file the size of a movie is there any thing i can attach to my tv put the stick in a watch a movie,i know a laptop would wrk but i am thinking a device i leave plugged in all the time.

I've never heard of such a device - I could definitely be wrong on this - but wouldn't that totally encourage illegal downloads of movies? However, who knows, like I said I could be wrong...

I'm not too sure on this, but My new very big tv has a usb port on the back..
not sure what you would use it for or how, but Maybe the guys at best buy could help you out..

For now I just use my XBOX attached to my comp. no burn needed

Other ones exist - just the first one I found with a Canadian dealer.

You probably need to touch one to make sure it does everything you want it to.
Also make sure it supports the movie format and the size of the memory device.

U can download video and watch it with the media player on ur pc, instead of having to burn it to dvd. Or is it because u want to watch it on ur tv?

My new very big tv has a usb port on the back...

From what I understand, that port is for service calls...if a tech needs to do a firmware update, they load it onto the tv from a memory stick via the USB port. Same deal for cable boxes/satellite boxes that have USB ports.

very easy

if you download a movie in AVI format, they are about 800 megabytes. You can copy over 10 movies on a 8 gb memory stick. Most of the new (and cheap) DVD players have a USB port in front. I just plug my memory stick in, select USB on the remote and select the movieIi want to watch. Picture and sound is very good!

All you need is a dvd player that plays divx and can read from a usb they are out there and they're cheap

yep the ps3 can also play movies via usb. it's much easier though to stream the movie to ps3 via your mediaplayer. I do this all the time.

You should be able to play anything on the AppleTV that you can add to iTunes, which means that you'll need to convert the DivX stuff to a format that iTunes accepts. Plus, as mentioned, there's a bunch of hacks that can allow you to play more formats.

I went to radio shack (source)Last night and they have a personal dvd player for $99.00 that has a usb port and the three rca jacks (red yellow white) that i can plug into my idiot box the kid there says it should wrk. If i buy it there and it does not do what i want i will just take it back.

my video card has 2 DVI ports.
one goes to my computer monitor.
the other goes to my TV via a DVI>HDMI cable.

set it up right in the Nvidia settings..and now when i play a movie on the
computer it automatically plays on my TV full screen.
