Any Fraser health clinic will test for anything and all results are confidential.
You can call them and get the closest clinic to you and book an appointment.
Results are usually in a week.
Get tested every 3 months and all should be good.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks a lot broken arrow!!

I'll need to google about what the Fraser health thing is...
My worry, is that sometimes my work assigns me to places that requires random drug test and they might pull my medical record ( or so I have heard, from different people.. As a way of doing "character" reference. They can also pull my credit before "hiring" me on for a project), I am not sure how true it is but would not like anything being shared.

Basically, the confidentiality clause in business and finance goes out the window now because of a lot of the tax treaties and higher ups messing with us little folk. I just want to be prudent.

I also don't have a family doctor yet, hahaha. Don't want my first meeting to be "so, I've been busy in the last couple of months.. Can ya take my blood real quick?"

I prefer the anonymity of the clinic on 12th by VGH. If you see your family doctor, or give your name when registering at a clinic, your visit goes on your medical record. I'd read here years ago that multiple incidences of sti checks can affect your ability to get insurance, and not just for medical coverage. You're suddenly listed as "high risk."

It's really not a big deal on going to your doctor to get tested, many people do. This might help you - tell your doctor you have been in a relationship for three months now and you and your parter want to get test because you don't want to use rubbers anymore because you're in a committed relationship. The doctor will fill out paper work to get tested, go to life labs and done. If you have a sti, some can be treated with antibiotics.

Just an FYI - in order to sign up to Getcheckedonline, you need an invite. I found a work around (download one of the "gay tinders" and then click on the ad, it'll send you to the website without a promo code that's needed).

Anyway, it's great and checks for the big ones, but NOT HPV or Herpes, I guess those ones you still need to go to the Provincial STI clinic? The people that picked up were super nice, so was the nurse. I tried to talk my way into an early exam but I can't without any symptoms.. and it'd be in bad taste to lie about that. Lol. They're book solid for the next two weeks but recommended dropping in and seeing if you're lucky. Lady (the RN, or public health nurse) said I'd wait 20min Max, then they'll just tell me come back another day. Because they are aware some people might be there to "people watch" and they take privacy very seriously.

Overall, very professional and great service (and it's free!).

Can the PerbMod make this a sticky or have the important tidbit be put somewher for all the newer perbites? It's a great public resource and I really appreciate all the input. Experience pooners and SP's alike!!

Herpes typically isn't part of standard STI screening because the test is expensive. And there's other reasons.. but I'll leave it to them to tell you why..

When you're in your appointment.. remember to ask them why HPV isn't included either.. I found their response very interesting when I asked.
Well now I want to know what they told you dang it :)

Hello to all. Medical testing is very important and it is necessary in order to constantly monitor the functioning of your body. Many people simply neglect this and think that if they do not feel unwell then they cannot have health problems. Very often, many diseases are latent and this is very dangerous. This is why I always buy Rapid Test Kits from myhealthconfirm.com and get tested in front of a doctor. It seems to me that these tests can be passed independently, but the doctor says that I do not have the skills and knowledge to pass the test correctly and determine the result.

In Vancouver, you go to the Provincial STI Clinic @ 655 West 12th Avenue (west of Cambie).
Free (to anyone) and you can do it anonymously.
This is the best location IMO.

The clinic entrance is at the west end of the building which houses the BC Centre for Disease Control (CDC),
After testing, you receive a personal contact card to get results by phone if you don't want to pick up.

Used by a lot of SPs for regular checkup.
