I've been enjoying my new laptop but a pet peeve of mine is finding a good wireless connection "on demand", which isn't always available. Even if a good one is available, it requires being stationery. I am wondering if there is such a thing as a wireless internet service that is available "everywhere and anywhere even while moving" while I travel. In other words, I'd like to receive satellite internet signals on a freeway so that a passenger in my car can check her email or surf the internet or whatever while I drive.

Am I dreaming? I'm doing a google search right now, but so far no luck.

how fast is this service
I've been using the Sierra 580 from telus for the past couple of weeks and it KICKS ASS!!!!!

I'm getting around 1.2mbps download and the service is rock solid. Doesn't drop connections, will hot switch to a 802.11 site you've previously authenticated to (i.e. I have my notebook running in my truck and when I get to home or work it auto switches to the WLAN), and is damn easy to set up. No dialing (like the old way to connect via PCS). I've even made a VoIP call over it and the latency was a little more than a standard IP connection but still fine.
