There is no reason why anyone above the age of 16 should be interested in a romantic or sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl. She can have all the platonic relationships with her other male & female friends, aged 14-16, that she could ever need.

Parents, how you don't keep a shotgun under the bed for creeps like that, I don't know.

Vigilantes are a bad idea even if their intentions are honourable. This could go horribly wrong and ruin an innocent persons life. They already screwed up, in the latest case they mixed up the guys name. No denying it, this is entrapment. It is quite possible some of these men would never actually arrange to meet a teen if Creep catchers didn't lure them into it. No doubt child molesters are the real creeps but let's allow the police and courts to do their job.

Not a lawyer, either, but I did put my first ex-husband through law school! ;D

In Canada, 'entrapment' is a determination for a judge to make after an individual has been convicted of an offense. As in the recent terrorism trial known now as R. vs Nuttal/Kodaly, the judge decides that without the interference of law enforcement (RCMP in that case) the offense likely would not have occurred.

I am starting to become fully convinced that there may be a lot of very stupid male pedophiles around and they are Farley easy to catch.

As Every one of these stories and there are a lot of them as well as a TV series They all have the same thing happen some person pretends to be an underage girl that is interested in them. . This always starts either in a chat room or some form of social media and they decide to meet in person .



It is quite common for men to pretend to be females on the internet Not just to catch pedophiles but in order to get attention or make fun of other men there are even two Internet meams about it one is "tits or WTF". the other is" tits or GTFO "
The two are abbreviations for tits or what the fuck and tits or get the fuck out. Yet it seems that some pedophiles are unaware of this and assume a person in a chat room who says their an underage girl or boy is what they say they are very strange. Seems that they are as trusting as the children they try to molest .

It's good that everyone on this thread is clearly stating their moral convictions. I'm not condoning any of it but at the same time you can't rationalise this sort of behaviour either. It reminds me of the episode of Dateline: To catch a predator where Chris Hansen and company were set up at a bait house in Florida and the perps were stacking up to go to the house. One perp was observed on camera passing by the front of the bait house while Police were in the process of taking down the previous perp on the driveway and the other guy came to the house anyway and was caught..Hello! The behaviour is on par with that of an addict.

Actually a vigilante is someone who takes the law into their own hands.
"Done violently and summarily, without recourse to lawful procedures."

The problem with doing this is they can make mistakes. They have already named the wrong person. This guy could possibly sue them. At some point someone may get assaulted or worse. I'm not defending the idiots who are contacting young girls, but the Creep Catchers don't really know what they are doing.

Maybe after they're done with the pedophiles they'll set up stings for the lowlifes who exploit women by paying for 'companionship'.
Or they can expose the women who engage in this activity.

Right now, creep catchers are getting kudos for their exposing of pedophiles. Will this encourage them to expand their Targets? With all the anti-trafficking hysteria going on, targeting johns is not a big leap. Someone needs to turn the tables on them. I hope the person wrongly identified sues them for everything they own.

I'm all for catching predators.

After seeing the US show "To catch a predator" I'd have to say that they used some incredibly sketchy methods to lure their creeps. Of those some of which were mentally ill (obviously.) Makes me wonder about those who we did not see on TV.

Likewise, honestly how many kids 17 or under are advertising for sex or such on CL? If I remember back, even considering a girl one grade younger was a big deal among your class mates, never mind advertising for it.
It sounds suspiciously like they are "creating" a market, where none existed before.

Add to that, CL itself. I am even reluctant to sell my used appliances there now. You have the typical CL cheapskates and time wasters, and now you have this whole seedy thing happening only a couple categories over.

The creep catchers themselves are not under any obligation to follow any code of conduct, either.

I think it has a lot of potential to go south fast, and potentially ruin someone's life, if the CC's methods become overzealous, or a mistake is made.

I'm not a fan of the US show, and not a fan of this. If they make a mistake, the person's picture is on facebook or wherever right away.
Once it's in the media, you are guilty period.
