.. and he almost ruined my retirement!!!

I was out last week, at the roxy, with my man and some friends. And some dough head comes up to me and says, (over the music) "HEY, BOBBIVAN????"

I just about lost it.

Serve him up a "slice of bitch", perhaps the whole pie!

I'm still quite surprised. I mean if we see a movie star or hockey player, we'll recognize them because we see them on t.v. all the time but there are quite a few SP's who show their face and unless you actually have seen them, what are the chances someone will remember who that SP was unless you are constantly and daily scrolling through ads.

Respect for Others

Pictures on the Web or not, Maverick was at the most insensitive to Bobbi's personal life/personal identity by approaching her in the conspicuous manner he allegedly did.

I have said it a million times to people who work with and for me that a breach of confidentiality is a breach of self respect and disrespect to other. Human nature is such that it will defy every effort to lump it into categories, whether it is done for convenience or by design. By Maverick calling out "Bobbivan" in public, it was a breach of her confidentiality and to her it felt like an attack on her personal identity. We all will always fight to protect our precious identity. Why? Because that is what transcends our short existence here and therefore must always be preserved.

Our persona, in public or private should always be respected; however, we do not always have control over what others may say or do. We do most of the times have control over what we share about ourselves and our behavior.

Most importantly, what we say and do to other people should be on their terms. In this case, it was on Maverick's terms and not Bobbivan‘s. Hence, a violation of her personal identity resulting in her anger.

Could this been handled differently by Maverick? Most definitely so. Was it done in malice by Maverick? Probably not, it was a spare of the moment unconscious act. Is Bobbivan's response the appropriate way of handling this matter? No, Bobbi could have addressed the matter on the spot, expressing to Maverick that his behavior was insensitive and inappropriate and/or at a later date in private. What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

It’s time for a Big Group Hug.

This is a hobby that requires major amounts of discretion on everyones part for any one of a thousand reasons.

What kind of asshole would risk outing someone just satisfy their curiousity.

I would never approach any of the ladies in public because i have no way of knowing whats going on her life at the time or who she's with or is my approaching her going to complicate her life.

Why risk it ?

If i want to talk to them i phone them.

Everyone (including the ladies) need to use their heads and respect the privacy of others.

locked thread?

ok so after mav posted his reply to me... ( a couple of them actually ) they locked the thread... but i KNOW he's reading this....

so, Mav,

Get over yourself. For one, I don't retire until next week (which you wouldn't have known, so I dont' know why you're using the fact that I was 'retired' as an excuse to come up to me)

two, own up to the fact that what you did was wrong, in ANY circumstance.

and finally, the reason I posted it a week later was because I don't have the internet.... Only wireless that I can sometimes log in with...

I didn't post this as a malicious attack on you, I posted it so girls would be wary of you. You dont' have class, and from your response and your actions, you don't have brains either.

i'm done, I have said my peace. I will NOT apologize for posting any of this. and your apologize was LAME at best.

Making comparisons to sports or entertainment celebrities (and the consequences of fame) is completely wrong.

It is an unspoken (guess it needs to be SPOKEN) rule that all players, SP's and clients, abide by. The activities and those we meet in the hobby do not exist in the "real world". I don't care if you think it's impolite not to acknowledge a chance encounter. It's far more impolite to trample all over someone's privacy. How can you assume to know everyone's circumstances?
His assertion that since BobbiVan was retired, it didn't matter, was even more idiotic, as now it's more important than ever.

If you need to stroke your ego by trying to bring it into the "real world", you are a pathetic moron.

It was good to see none of his friends sticking up for Mav when it was brought up on one of the other boards.

I wasn't making comparisons. I was just curious how Maverick knows and recognizes so many SP's...

He's an SP-groupie wannabee with no life.
His bullshit posts trying to build his cred makes that obvious. Look at his post count--2,490 in only 15 months.

BTW, I wasn't commenting about you. There were several other posters who made the lame-ass excuse that SP's are "celebrities".

Maybe everybody is now sufficiently convinced of their own perspicacity in recognizing that Maverick is an idiot, and it's time to let this thread sink harmlessly out of sight down the list.
